The last week and a half has been a wild ride for Allods Online on both the player side and the developer side. On February 19th, Allods Online debuted their cash shop, and the prices were universally considered unreasonable. (Unreasonable was putting it mildly, according to popular opinion.) Many players at first assumed there was a mistake and waited anxiously for the correct prices to be added.
Word quickly came down that the prices were indeed correct, and the games were on. Angry players either left the game entirely or stuck around to protest. Eventually, the Allods Online team acknowledged that the pricing decision was a bad one and announced they'd be changing the prices soon. They have now released what we've all been waiting for: the updated price list. Follow along after the cut and take a look at the new (and certainly improved) prices for the Allods Online cash shop.
Vial of Perfume reduced from 75gP to 25gP
Large Perfume Kit reduced from 1350gP to 300gP
Holy Rune reduced from 1500gP to 1000gP
Rough Dragon Hide Backpack reduced from 2000gP to 600gP
Small Deposit Box reduced from 1500gP to 1000gP
Small Bag of Crystal Chips reduced from 250gP to 100gP
Medium Bag of Crystal Chips reduced from 1200gP to 350gP
Potions reduced from 250gP to 200gP

OK, all you Allods players, why would someone want to play this game -- or at least give it a try? What's it got going for it that other games do not have?
(Or point me to a review, if there's a good one out there. Thx.)

Look it up on massively. 90% of articles written about Allods are chock full of player comments praising Allods like no MMO in beta has ever been praised.
In a nutshell, it's production values are off the charts. It's not just another generic Free to play piece of crap. They puts TONS of money and talent into Allods and it shows.
Also, Allods are these floating islands in nebulous space like place called The Astral. Guilds can build ships and explore the open Astral, looking for raid bosses, bountiful, unknown Allods OR they can (and this is the big draw) fight other ships, board them and steal their loot.
It's a fantastic game, which makes it all the more tragic that it fell under incompetent administration. If they had released it with a sub, it would be HUGE.

Here: http://www.massively.com/tag/allods/
Scroll past 4-5 articles, untill you get to about 19th of Feb.
Read backwards from there - pretty much all of them are full of praise how amazing the game is.
After they introduced the cash-ups, the game suddenly turned to total piece of smelly crap.
It's funny how the MMO community is just one big echo chamber.

It IS another generic fantasy race/class/level/questgrinder. It's not amazing. It just stands out for being a F2P game with production values almost as good as a subscription-based game. Check it out if you're curious (hey, it's free!) but don't expect innovation.

Their endgame is, in theory, pretty clever and original.
Players (as a Guild) can buy ships which require several players to man different stations and the ships fly through 3D space in a reportedly very disorienting and massive set of portals.
They can then land on floating allods (individual raid zones) and then raid them.
The catch is that the raid loot does not become theirs until they arrive back at their port. Until then it remains in the hold of their ship and is vulnerable to ship-to-ship raiding.
Supposedly space is big enough where finding another ship will be difficult but I think it raises an intriguing kind of thrill to raids.

In b4 trolls.
I've already finished the quest to get the 24 slot bag, so I don't personally need it but it has been reduced from $20 to $6.
Stack of 20 perfumes dropped from $13.50 to $3. Very nice. You can also buy these perfumes from the auction house, they are tradable.
Just to clarify, when you die in an instance you recieve a defbuff called "Fear of Death" which fades over time. The higher level you are, the longer the debuff lasts.
To remove FoD you either need to leave the instance and visit a Servant of Light to have the buff removed with in-game currency or use one perfume. Once you leave the instance you cannot re-enter for the remainder of the day. This makes the perfumes valuable because they can be used to remove the Fear of Death debuff without leaving the instance.
You do not need to purchase the perfumes from the cash shop, they can be traded in the auction house. 20 perfumes for $3 is much more reasonable in my opinion. I don't mind paying that at all.
Now if they would just add some mounts to the game, cash shop or otherwise, I'll be a happy camper.

It's ironic that you put "in b4 trolls," where as by saying that you're actually trolling yourself, Waffles. So yuo know...it has been well established that the pricing structure of Allods has serious issues across the industry. So anyone complaining about it is legit and infact, not trolling.
You really should really be looking up what a troll is before shooting from hip with such an idiotic comment. Because the rest of the stuff you had to say was pretty sound and resonable if true. To bad you had to spoil it at the beginning. /sigh

Well the price reduction look reasonable. I don't know how much it is in euros, since the prices are in gP, but it looks good.
