When Allods Online soft-launched on February 16th, it had proven just how much buzz a free-to-play game could generate in a short span of time. Three days later, it proved how quickly a game's reputation could plummet, as the release of the cash shop prices sent most players into a paroxysm of rage. The official statements (and interviews) were seen as amounting to "well, it's our game so pay up," and the crowd was quickly turning around and heading for the hills. So an age-old strategy has been employed: the powers that be are reversing their position
The official announcement doesn't give any details, but it makes it clear that the community outrage has been heard, and the cash shop prices will be revised sometime this week. The structuring has been changed to make "participation in this element of the game" less onerous, and no doubt to try and reverse some of the animosity leveled against Astrum Nival and gPotato in recent days. It remains to be seen whether or not the turnaround will mollify players or if the changes will be too little too late, but it's good to see that the voice of the players has been heard all through Allods Online.

I'm hesitant but willing to give the game a repeek once the new shop goes live. If its decent enough to combat the upcoming doom patch 7 I'm willing to carefully give it a chance.
Right now the worst problems for NA players are all the RU players, the major amount of hacks that came along with them, hacks before them, spammers, and botters that Gpotatos seems ill equipt to handle and fully remove them from the servers for good.
Anyone that still cries because there is a shop that you're probably going to have to use even if its prices are fair are the same sorts of freeloaders that would cry no matter what. When ever I get into a F2P / Subscriptionless game I pretty much expect that if I like it enough I'm willing to support it ...its not like the companies are growing trees full of money and gold bars to keep these games afloat if no one buys.
My biggest issue was the pricing. GPotatos went way over board and did little research despite their claims. My only concern now is how many "blunders" can this game and its cash shop take before all thats left are free loaders, a few rich elitists casual players, and all the hackers.

Too litte, too late, I'm afraid. I am now happily investing my money on DDO Unlimited.
Gala-Net and Astrum Nival had their chance to get me hooked on their product, and they wasted it. Turbine, on the other hand, did not.

This game seemed very promising. I've been astounded by the failure to react to the glaringly overpriced CS items. The PR was 100% lacking on this - if they meant to have prices that overinflated they should at least have almost immediately picked up on the ragestorm and actually removed the items or repriced them. That's it's taking this long means the various parties do not have a workable business relationship - this will probably be repeated again over the patch 7 nerfs...
Non of this caused me to leave though, I'd already given up on the game based on the forced PVP in level 20-30 areas and at endgame. How can any game expect to go beyond a niche title if it encourages high level players to gank people levelling constantly. Reminds me of trying Warhammer Online - you join a battle and get insta-killed by all the super twinked opponents. *shakes head*
