The EverQuest II players have spoken. The results are in, and the sales of the newest expansion, Sentinel's Fate took the #1 spot in the PC game sales charts for a second week in a row. We'd bet there will be much celebratory battleground playing or virtual pillow-fighting at the Sony Online Entertainment offices today.
The sixth expansion to EverQuest II, Sentinel's Fate is chock full of content, taking players from level 80 to 90. Packed into this expansion are two new overland zones, 15 new dungeons, 400 new quests and over 2,000 new items to check out. There's also some pretty cool armor and 500 station cash to go shopping with as well. Not too shabby.
If you're curious for more details about the expansion, Sera's compiled a great roundup of our coverage. For now, we'll just say grats on the ding, EverQuest II team!

It isn't on the UK charts because the charts only track box sales and not downloads. The overseas release was only download.

It isn't on any overseas chart because they don't track downloads on the charts and it was only released that way outside of the United States. These numbers for the U.S. also don't include the download sales for the U.S. that started in the second week.

I hear you. I played a few years ago and had a Conjurer in his 50's. Then my friends all wanted to play whatever the new flavor of the month game was, and so we switched to that. Obviously that worked out really well if I can't even remember the game anymore!
EQ2's graphics do often look dated, which is ironic given that it launched with bleeding edge requirements. But they've also done huge amounts of optimization, scaled it for SLI, made the programming changes necessary for multi-core support, and added a few new bells and whistles to keep up with advancing hardware. So it's funny because sometimes you'll be astonished by how ugly something is, then turn a corner and be greeted with stunning beauty.
Anyway, having been so long away I couldn't remember how to play my Conjurer well. There were new starting zones and races teasing me, along with things like achievements that appealed to the completionist in me. So I decided to roll up a new character and start from scratch. Since there is so much content in the game I have been able to play all new stuff and have been having a blast.

Good on them, SOE deserve all the accolades they can get for making EQ2.
4 years in EQ2 was the highlight of my MMO playing career :) 3 of those 4 were raiding in EQ2, So many good times...
I've played them all from Allods, WAR, Eve, LOTR, WoW, to Conan, and many more, but nothing ever came close to the depth of EQ2.
I no longer play, but thinking of returning to see the new expansion.
