Fallen Earth, Global Agenda, Earthrise. As players suffering from orc and elf burnout search for something different, the post-apocalyptic genre is quickly becoming popular.
One such title that's been flying well under the radar is Xsyon, an upcoming post-apocalyptic MMO from Notorious Games. The game is scheduled for an April 15 release, with plans to allow pre-order players to begin the game in mid-March. Xsyon's official site is very well done, offering backstory, screenshots, and extensive information about the game itself. The recently added forums rounded the site out nicely, opening the doors for discussion among players anxious for the game to arrive.
While the graphics aren't as perfected as bigger name games, the features are where this game really shines. Xsyon will be released in a series of installments, growing in every direction (landscapes, skills, crafts, etc.) as players learn and explore farther. So this means players will directly affect the world and the direction of the game by their actions and choices.
Xsyon is a game well worth looking into -- check out the official site for the full story.

I wasn't quite sure if this was a western or eastern game until I read this...
"You know nothing. You’ve forgotten the past and have yet to learn the future. You are a lost soul in a strange barren world with little more than the shirt on your back. Little do you know you are destined to become a hero."
Forgotten past... That would be western. The cliches are strong with this one. :)

Fallen Earth almost got me to give em a try. But alas, giving AoC a try. I like that companies are branching out though into other genres. It is good for the industry.
Wish Notorious Games all the luck with their title!

I looked at the screen shots first and was, "meh". Nothing spectacular. But then I read the feature list. The stuff at the top of the list is mostly pretty standard fare, but the farther down you read the more impressive it becomes. If they can pull it off, this has the potential to be a lot of fun.

I thik the graphics are perfectly adequate but would oike to see some vidoes to truly judge. The feature list though does make this one to watch and invest a little reserved hope in.That and it doen't appear to be f2p at this stage 8P.

The RP potential of this game is mindblowing. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

It's not that pretty to look at compared to some MMO's about at the moment, but reading the feature list really piqued my interest. If they can pull it off this could become a gem of a game. There's some innovative ideas here.

I thought it was pronounced like that notorious oil company.

It's still very much a fantasy themed game, with a Sci-Fi -ish twist.
Maybe they leave out the Orcs & Elves, but instead they bring in Devils & Angels....
Maybe it's a "Christian" MMO?
A name that's pronounced Zion does suggest a Bible-theme, when you take the imagery into account.

The feature list is great except for the whole FFA PvP which is a dealbraker for me everytime - supporters of FFA always claim it won't be a gankfest but it always is in the end. I might give it a try when the free trial comes along but otherwise it's just another brief glimmer of hope leading to apathy.
Also, they don't plan to have an open beta /stress test. May god have mercy on their Servers.

I usually am right there with you. FFA PvP usually sucks... hard!
However, I've done some research and Xsyon's PvP really isn't FFA at all. Their system does allow anyone to attack anyone else -- but the penalties for this are built to discourage ganking by all but the most hardcore.
Put another way, it's much like what we have in the real world. Yes, you can kill anyone you meet. But no, you won't because the penalties for this are severe. In Xsyon, the penalties are a lot lower than in the real world, but at the same time there is no getting away with murder. The computer automatically flags you as evil, even if there were no witnesses or evidence.

The more I read, the more I really hope that this game is going to succeed.
