They should have named it the Sakura class. THAT would have been epic. :)

Why would they think it's a good idea to take liberties with the firmly established aesthetic of Star Trek?

I'm not saying no new ships. I'm saying stick with the plan and don't churn out ships hideous and uneccesary embelishments that look out of place.

Wow. Someone at Cryptic really messed up. That is NOT the Destiny Class. The screenshot at the very top of the page is, but you'll notice that it's not the same ship as in the video. The actual Destiny Class looks pretty cool, but that one is the Trident Class. I tend to think of it as a Dustbuster IN SPAAAACE.

And here i didnt think another STO blog would be worth commenting on.........

Short fleet missions yes they lasted roughly seconds, as an example cryptic tried to buff the crystal entity, players worked around that so cryptic completely changed the skill ramming speed to force a prolonged fight, inother words fail. The epic doomsday machine encounter? takes about 2 to 5 minutes if you grab a drink.

As for long solo missions or even raid type missions? There are NONE. maybe in a couple 6 or 8 months. The big dig was cryptics first attempt at a "dedicated" fleet mission, but it doesnt work. *Grin* what does?

Did anyone else notice that the ship in the picture is different than the ship in the video?

Yes. That's the Trident Class, not the Destiny. Each Tier has three similar-looking ships so you can mix-and-match parts to customize the look. But the ship in the video is pure Dustbust... er... Trident.

I wish they would fire whoever does their videos. I can't remember the last time I saw one that excited me and I'm a fan of the game. Anyway,

@Graill
I don't know how long you want missions to last, but I thought City on the Edge of Never took a decent amount of time. And the Doomsday machine arc took a while to get through also. While the actual encounter was way too easy and did noot seem to make a whole lot of sense (maybe don't put the thing so close to the planet for one) the mission itself was not a quickie.

While I won't call you a liar, I would like to read the thread where the devs said ramming speed was being changed for one mission.

After all these comments, you know some poor 3D artist over at Cryptic is crying in a corner someplace. He/She probably thought it was super cool as he/she modeled it for days. Painstakingly textured it. And then presented it all to you.

Maybe the guy just had a lot of ironing to do before he started this model?
