If you haven't played it, you should. They have a 21 day trial and the new trial island is awesome. You can try every skill tree out (but not all one trillion skills lol) and you can see the weather effects and mob AI in action.

This game has stuff like weather that actually changes and seasons, and mobs that have hunter/prey action and migration. I love it.

The only problem with Ryzom is the population, lack of. The game lost funding and then lost people once the billing fiasco rolled around.

An actual economy, things wear out and must be replaced, even epic items, resources are seasonal and pvp was pretty fun, everyone is on even footing, even lower level folks can pvp effectively to a point.

So much lore, quests and tie ins were left hanging when the great fall happened its a pity no big name has picked it up, studied the game and restart development.

A good and bad side note is the palyer run content, the cubes you make your stories in are small, and frankly square borders scare me..... *grin* Plus items gained in these player run instances cannot be used ingame (wonder why)

Why can't any of these companies realized the MMO universe should be filled with population first. Why not make it F2P already?

@Digest

And so should movie theaters.
And concert halls.
And restaurants.
And clubs.
And sporting events.

Because, you see, everything IS better with more people!

Can you imagine the quality degradation in the products and services we use to entertain ourselves if they were free?

I know Ryzom has a small community, but I dare you to spend a few months in it and not come out thinking it was one of the best--if not the best--online community available. That wasn't the case when it was f2p.

Besides, it's $10/month! Where else can you get a Yubo to pee on your shoe for that price?
