Anyone who has been keeping an eye on the situation surrounding Stargate Worlds, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment and related publishing company FireSky, knows that there's been trouble brewing for some time. We've seen struggles to get funding, employees going unpaid, lawsuits for unpaid bills, and some of the studio's main names leaving the building. Still, they just released the FPS based on the work they'd been doing for Stargate Worlds, called Stargate: Resistance. The hope was that S:R would give Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment a much needed cash infusion.
Now, news has come to light that not only has Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, but they've also severed all ties with Gary Whiting -- former Chairman and CEO of CME. Add to that, the shareholders and Cheyenne Mountain have joined forces against Whiting in civil case (CV2010-003106) filed in Maricopa County, naming many other ventures including the curious "interactive social network," MMOGuls Inc. as co-defendants, in a civil complaint "alleging various wrong doing against the Company."
A statement detailing the company's current status was posted today to the Stargate Worlds forums. We've included it behind the break for those interested. In the meantime, let's hope that the change in leadership, combined with a reorganization under Chapter 11, and the release of Stargate: Resistance proves to be the boon that Cheyenne Mountain needs to get back on track -- and into the black.
Taken from the post by Gabriel_FS:
Cheyenne Mountain's corporate structure has undergone some dramatic changes in the last few weeks, and that has resulted in various actions such as the filing for Chapter 11. Certain parties believed that was the right thing to do, other parties do not and this is still being evaluated and may be rescinded. Even if the bankruptcy should go through, however, Chapter 11 simply allows a company to restructure its debt to a manageable plan approved by the courts. It does not absolve a company of debt, and it does not shut it down or otherwise affect its daily operations.
This will all be sorted out in the legal and proper manner, and all of us on the development side of things hope it's done as quickly as possible.
That said, our entire staff is in-house working on upgrades and expansions for Stargate Resistance, and we continue to be motivated and excited by the response we've received from our customers.
See you on the battlefield!

This is actually really good news. This does not mean bye bye game, it means quite the opposite. If you read the article it clearly shows that CME is moving towards a Much better place. They're restructuring and moving forward! I'm very excited about the updates and expansions to SG:R.
If you have not played SGR yet I highly recommend it. It's not a modern warfare 2 type game, it's not supposed to be. It's also not 60+ dollars. For only 20 bux you get solid gameplay/graphics. The Dynamics of the classes in an asymmetrical balance are a lot of fun to switch around with.
Go Firesky and CME! keep up the good work I know you're on your way.

"Have you played a game since 1994?"
Just a refresher as to what was out in 1994.

Sarcasm or not, that comment was just plain stupid. Pro-Tip: If your going to be sarcastic, do it intelligently.

Don't hold your breath kids. Stargate: Resistance looks horrendously bad and Chapter 11 just means the company is holding out hope that they can survive - doesn't mean they will.

Hold it kids, SG:R actually looks gorgeous - if SG:W has world environments as beautifully rendered in UT3 as Resistance's, it's going to be awesome. The gate room alone is more than worth 20 clams. And just as Epocrates says above, Chapter 11 is the best way forward at this point, and if that's what it takes to get things back on track, then great!

Lol are you kidding, Neurotic?
Maybe compared to oh, Quake 1, SGR looks 'gorgeous'.

On their own forums, a UT3 modder posted at length about the many basic design and aesthetic errors that exist in the SGR maps, whereby the developer promptly said '"thanks! I'm passing all this on to the team to implement!"..
'Gorgeous'..
Have you played a game since 1994?
(I won't even bother commenting on the voice 'acting'..)

What are you kidding Am? The in-game environments in SG:R look fantastic! The effects are amazing too - the rippling light reflections from the gates are perfect. Does it matter if some clever brat is able to spot and point out back-end mistakes in the level design or whatever? Noooo, if the games runs stable and quick (which it does, and I'm on a lousy ISP in a country with less B'band infrastructure than a bag of potatoes), *and* looks as good as it does, who cares?
Seriously, you'd have to be deluding yourself pretty hard to deny that the gfx are not on a par with any recent shooter, at least. No, seriously!

(I will say that the character models are not xompletely stellar, but their textures in-game are far superior to the ones in that viceo - maybe it was running on lower settings or something? At High+ they're much more detailed than what you see there.)

well no wonder there going down fast.
1) they tried to SUE a lot of people who made SG-1 mods for HL2 and LOSE
2) said people COUNTERSUED and WON
3) wasted so much time in promoting the SG-1 MMO rather than actually MAKING IT
4)messed up and wasted so much cash they couldent afford the mmo anymore and have now made it a single player game
thats just four things i found out all over the net (mind you i had to dig into the depths of satans backside to find out this stuff)
what they should do if make the game an MMO but a FREE TO PLAY base with optional subsriptions and a cash shop (DO NOT DO WHAT THEY DID IN REQUIEM)
the sg-1 game was one of the highlights of the year but then they wasted cash, fired staff, changed the entire game i could go on but in reality...sell the frigging stargate license to a respectable company that does know what to do ( DO NOT GIVE IT TO CRYPTIC...Champions online know what i mean

What an INFORMATIVE post. I enjoyed THE idea that THEY spent more time promoting the GAME than developing it. I'm SURE THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE THINGS WENT WRONG and it has nothing to do with a recession or anything.
Does ANYONE ELSE here enjoy RANDOM CAPS LOCK as much me and CHMARR WALCOTT do? How about IDLE CONJECTURE ON THings we know nothing about?
IS IT possible that chmarr walcott HAS had too much to DRINK?
