They just ain't gettin' it... Actually I think they do and are trying to cover their asses.

Once you people figure out , that we figured it out a long time ago and that we were letting you get away with this "For awhile", you'll figure it out.

So, essentially, "We're sorry you're not rich enough to buy the stuff, but really, it's your own fault for not being rich. Well listen to what you say, and nod appreciatively, but really, you're just living $-signs to us. Besides, there's a sucker born every minute. Also, sorry we didn't tell you the second our money-maker was available to drain your wallet."

And really, $20 for 6 freaking bag slots? That's more than the average monthly sub for most MMOs.

Wow. Is it me, or did they just kinda sorta make it worse than it was before? They really should just take the PR people out into a field and shoot them, zombies probably would do a better job at damage control than they did.

Enjoy the game without spending a cent, huh? You mean having to alt-tab out of the game for about 30-56 minutes every time I die unless I spend money?

Nah.... Thanks but no thanks.

Way to miss the point, gPotato.

So, in other words, "Yes, we hear your complaining. No, we're not changing our prices right now." The effect of the items in game is not the point. Being greedy is. Yes, you have a right to charge as much as you want for items in your free to play game. But you should also be reasonable and listen to what your players are willing to pay before walking blindly into the room.

While I'm not big on putting my personal feelings down in the comment section... I have to say that i'm horribly, horribly, horribly unimpressed.

This was a game that I was really ready to get behind, but with prices that are just so out of line from the market standards... yeah, it puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Maybe throw another "horribly" in there for good measure.

You only start with 3 horriblies. If you want more, you have to fork over $40 at the cash shop.

I remember someone mentioning in CBT3 that if gPotato dont screw up the item shop, then it will be a great game.

I even assumed it was an honest mistake...but this is just too much.
They are becoming arrogant because Allods received great reviews, but this fiasco will put a dent on its reputation

btw I read that these prices right now are 20x more expensive than the Russians

How did the cash shop story become a featured article on Massively today without even contacting the designers to see if the $20 bag item was a misprint? There are only a few items in the cash shop and they haven't finalized anything yet.

All you've done is unleash a legion of troll commenters who are dead set on destroying this game before it's officially released.

Uh, did you read what they posted? If it was a misprint or an error, they would have simply admitted it was. People originally thought it was some form of misplaced decimal mistake. If there was an error, they would have admitted it in the blog post listed above.

Reading it it sounds like they want to keep the cash shop prices, but may add items that will make it less of an impact. Perhaps increasing the amount of perfume questable in-game. I don't see anywheres in that post that the cash shop prices are a mistake, and its unclear whether or not they plan on changing them directly.

I'm not saying they aren't trying to keep those prices.. I'm saying no one tried to find out if those were the intended prices or a misprint before going live with the story. There is a fine line between journalism and rumor mongering.

If you play the game at all right now, you'll know there are misspellings everywhere in the game. A lot of quest text isn't even finalized. It's still very beta.

Who knows.. maybe they are planning to charge out the ass.

Looks like "Trolls" do more reading than you do pal. Seriously, is a
"troll" just someone who doesn't put up with bullshit from a gaming
company? Because you can definitely classify me as a Troll if that's
the case.
Besides, they did contact them before posting this article, if you read that is.

I don't think very many people care enough about this particular game to trash it. It's just not big news.

What IS big news is this growing trend of MMO companies doing a poor job of modernizing and hybridizing their business models, attempting to milk their players left and right, rather than offering up a realistic, sustainable microtrans store.

The company's silence for over 12 hours pretty much said it all long before this post. The cash shop went live early in the am hours and immediately spurred the debate of omg mistake? But when no answer came for over 12 hours anyone with common sense knew it was not a mistake and was completely intended and rage, disappointment and sadness reigned down.

They have Vibora Bay'd themselves and if they wait 'weeks' as they put it to change anything there will be no turning back. The hordes of players protesting even logging in will not come back and eventually it'll be left with the people who play an few hours a week, spend no money and those that have more money then common sense or just live off someone else. Pretty much this is complete fail of the worst kind.

I know I'm totally wasting my time here, but I'm being accused of not reading.. I love this site and read it several times per day. The comments lately, however, not so much.

atruehitt: I was referring to the original story, not this one. Massively did not try to contact the company before posting the article that got everyone's panties in a bunch. The original article and quote:

http://www.massively.com/2010/02/19/allods-opens-cash-shop-prices-drive-players-insane

From the original post: "It's not entirely clear whether this is some kind of back-end mistake on gPotato's part or an actual pricing change."

The original article was based on a forum post made by a player, not a statement from the company. Allods didn't even announce that the cash shop was officially open, it just happened to be functional for the first time after the last patch and some players noticed it.

If you read any of the non-ragequit articles on those same forums, you'll see that in the Russian version, that bag is $2, not $20.

If you're playing the game at all, you'll notice that the translations are still a work in progress for the most part.

god monkey you really are naive. It doesn't matter about the earlier thread..the proof is in the pudding. It took them 12 hours to respond and all they responded with was "Its not a Mistake". I'm sorry if the pricing was a mistake they should remove the store immediately to keep people from being fleeced and getting pissed off when the prices change. Thats if they even change and quite frankly if they don't change them in the next few days 90% of the people who left and trust me ALOT of people left because the servers are way quieter then they were days ago ... they will not come back.

It was NOT a mistake. It never was. The GM's were on when the cash shop went live. People asked if it was a mistake and got no answer. For hours people wondered, people speculated by Noon with NO answer its pretty damn clear to anyone with common sense it was NOT a mistake.

They intentionally raised the prices ALOT. Hell there's now even translation from the russian server that the RUSSIANS are getting prices REDUCED. Their prices are already damn cheap as hell. They intend to make money off us and let the russians enjoy all the benefit.

MonkeyStick,

The first post was clearly talking about players BECOMING UPSET. Massively wasn't running around claiming Gpotatoe was doing anything wrong before making comment. Dang get your facts straight.
