Turbine knows how to please a crowd, as evidenced by these new screens for Volume III: Allies of the King, Book 1 for Lord of the Rings Online. Who doesn't love dragons? Well, okay, probably not the party currently under siege by one in the screenshot above -- but everyone else for the most part. At least, everyone else loves them until they're attacked by one.
Anyhow, check out the rest of the screens. We especially recommend this one particular screen, where you'll find some other non-dragon enemies that look more than ready to tear apart your character in-game. Yes, we know, we've got a problem with dragons today. Don't worry, we're done now. Honest.

Now, I'm not a well versed Middle-Earth aficionado or anything but wasn't Smaug the last of the dragons?

Glad to see they're still just taking a giant dump on the Lord of the Rings lore. Should have just stuck with Middle Earth Online Turbine, instead of this weird bastardization.

Actually, Tolkien said Smaug was the last great dragon. He did not rule out the possibility of lesser dragons, or dragon-kin. It's not a dump on the lore.

Wisdomandlor is correct. Smaug was the last of the great dragons, but other dragons have been referenced (Fall of Gondolin comes to mind)

Definitely not a dump on the lore. I think Turbine's done a great job being reasonably faithful to the lore (they worship Tolkien!) while still making a game people actually want to, you know, play.
But then there will always be people who think Peter Jackson "ruined" the trilogy, too, but not following it verbatim, even when the original is rather bad. The end result was a movie people wanted to, you know, watch.

If it makes the game more fun the lore can go hang.

Negative criticism of article in-bound.
What a stupid headline for a story. I'm sorry -- news snippet? If you can even call it that. If you are going to post something about a game such as LotRO that is heavily lore-based and lore-driven, at least select an author who is knowledgeable enough to comment intelligently about it.
