The rank 1 prizes are worth mentioning because they're a little different this time:
All relic AND mythic weapons are being offered.

Slightly controversial, but I think the vast majority of players are excited. Will be interesting to see what the winners pick as their free relics, especially since there is still at least 1 mythic weapon that has never been completed and several with only 1 or 2 in existence.

Could be a really neat opportunity to test the lesser known weapons, or have fun with your own, free standard relic like an Apoc or Amano.

The chances of actually winning Rank 1 are pretty small. If we're lucky we'll see one, maybe two people win.

Of course, the thing is that it would expose how few players are actually still p(l)aying for this game, and how much Square-Enix has probably lost for XIV before it even goes beta.

This is another effort to keep XI relevant as Square-Enix continues to refuse to deal with the real problems which have all but killed it and are about to kill XIV before it even goes beta.

The game has its flaws as do many but it also has positive sides, i view the rank1 prizes as an aknowledgement that FFXIV is likely to supercede XI and this bonanza will give a few people the opportunity to obtain something that they never would otherwise.
