Wait until APB comes out. You'll fall out of love with Cryptic's one and only claim to fame.

I hate to point this out Brian. But Coh/V's color selection options on their spells and abilities is far more robust and flexible than CO's right now, including the options of light and dark. And I feel you can make for more consistant concept toons as well. This is not to suggest that Coh/V is not without it's faults and issues - it's way too slower a pace for one - but there are certainly some things CO should take it's ques from.

I pretty much agree with everything you had to say as well. But I make it no secrete that it's Cryptic/Atari's business practices is the big driving wedge for me. Fix that, I may reconsider their game. But that would require them ditching their C-Store for one...I think they're too in bed with that to ever do that currently.

The answers section would be nice if there were any reason that anyone should believe a single word they say at this point.

Cryptic is on it's last legs. SWTOR and DCUO are two Major IP's that are going to absolutely crush anything they have going atm. They only reason they are in business now is the unfathomable luck that brought them two IP's one minor, and one major... does anyone truly believe they can do something original? The two games they have now are carbon copies of a game they helped create..CoH.

Add to the complete inability to launch a game (or maintain one after launch), an inability to play it straight with your subscriber base/community. If someone from Cryptic is standing next to you and says, "it's raining outside.." it would be best to find the nearest window and check.

Bill Roper is the definition of douche bag, and opportunist with a mix of incompetence, and a dash of absolutely-clueless-on-what-it-takes-to-produce-a-game. Who remembers the Hellgate fail of epic proportions?

Lastly, for the lifetime subscriber, you will be lucky if you get an entire year of "gold" game content: a complete game, 70-80% bug free, with end game content, true end game.. not higher level repeatable quests with diminishing returns. To add insult to injury.. Cryptic announced they have finally planned some endgame content!!!! ...that you have to pay for. Cryptic will be a dead company by this time next year, and I for one look forward to the day that they can be held up as an example of what NOT to do... here's hoping someone pays attention.

I'm glad they seem to be aware of how royally screwed Champions is, and that a huge number of their players are done with them. Whether or not they can turn it around is debatable though. The fact that they are working on a paid content "expansion" when their game is devoid of content speaks louder than words.

I'm really surprised that people didn't realize that CO and STO wouldn't be very good.

I loved CoX and realized that no matter how many times people say it, the current Cryptic didn't really develop CoX The original developers of CoX (many of the main designers, programmers, artists) stayed at NCSoft and formed Paragon. Cryptic is really just made up of a few of the creative designers/producers from CoX and it's now very clear that they don't know a lot about designing fun games.

These ongoing Cryptic discussions just remind me why I am so against lifetime subscriptions. It gives the company little incentive to constantly improve their game knowing that they have already got all of their money from you (microtransactions aside).

In effect, you are giving up your right to vote with your wallet whenever you buy a lifetime sub.

I thought it wasn't that bad of a post. Props to them for answering some tough questions and at least acknowledging some of the issues. I enjoy the game, even with its flaws, and look forwards to see what they do to improve it.

Could we please kill this myth right now? When Cryptic sold CoH/V to NCsoft, the CoH/V live team at the time, plus one, went to the new studio. The original designers of CoH/V (those who were still there) stayed with Cryptic.

It's not 'all the people who originally developed CoH/V stayed with CoH/V', it was the CoH/V live team at the time of sale to NCsoft. Castle, BABs, Positron etc were hired on under the people who originally developed CoH/V (with War Witch being Cryptic's first external hire and as an office person not dev, iirc).

You could say that "the most experienced customer facing developers at Cryptic went on to form Paragon Studios" and you'd be more accurate.
