Car Wars would be good -- I to remember it in all its in-car-nations. With the Gold Cross as part of the genre -- it would be a perfect fit for the mmo world. However We've already seen one car-based MMO come and go...

Firefly would be good -- its wide open to exploration. And you have rugged zones as well as high-tech corp zones. Add in space battles and you have a good mix.

I still hope to see Fallout become an MMO -- I got SOOO sucked into that world, it would be so fun. However we've already got a few post-holocaust MMOs out there, or on their way...

It's hard to find an IP that has a world that can sufficiently endure what occurs in a MMO if it was a novel of some sort. That sensation of exploration of a favorite IP diminishes once the game, and the genre's inherent limitations, start setting in.

Definitely agree with the 'no IP' concept unless it is specifically tailored to creatures that do not feel pain, do not sleep and do not poop.

I've been saying for years that I want a genuine, honest-to-god Mad Max mmo. The movies illustrate just enough to create a world ripe for picking.

And just to get it out there,
Fallen Earth and others like this aren't even close to the Mad Max thing. Fans of all 3 movies (the last two in particular which are much different) will understand.

B5 would be outstanding as a competitor to eve.You could have each race would be a different faction, there are nearly 2 dozen races in the game, you put the players in charge of each just like corporations are run in eve. You could have some truly EPIC ship combat!

Also Shadowrun if done properly would be great.

It's just too bad MMO companies are only making wow clones:(

I'd love to see a "wheel of time" MMO. There is a tone of content that could be used, huge arrays of locations and great great lore.

1. Battletech is a no brainer... multiple factions, could have awesome PvP
2. Shadowrun based on the 3rd edition rules- I'd love to see the intergration of riggers, magic, and the Matrix.
3. SLA Industries- a British cyberpunk RPG that was short lived.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson would make a great MMO setting.

Wheel of Time could be cool too, though there was an announcement about a company acquire those rights I believe.

Some settings I'd love to see MMO's developed from:

Planescape:Torment

The Grey Lensmen series

Dune

Riverworld

Westworld - was a movie (sci Fi meets Western)

Something based in Greg Bear's "Eon" universe

Blade Runner

An historical MMO based in the Punic Wars (since Barca AD got turned into an RTS project cus they wimped out on making it an MMO) or a Greek / Spartan setting.

I gotta say Mass Effect could make a good MMO or one based off the movie PUSH (okay maybe that would just make a good role-playing game) .

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Rifts would be the greatest setting possible for an MMO.

I think anime and manga, generally speaking, would make for lousy IP material for an MMO, simply because they spend most of their time working on the story, rather than the world. The number of manga IPs that have a heavy world/political component can really be counted on one hand.

You must read John Varleys Titan, Wizard, and Demon Trilogy.
That is a series of books written that would not only make for a GREAT MMO but would put Star Wars to shame if ever made into a movie.
