There was an old, old game from the 8 bit era called "Below the Root". I loved this game on the C=64. It seems to me that it would have potential as a MMO.

The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher

That'll probably never happen, so, Shadowrun, most definitely.

I'd love for an MMO to be solely based on Lovecraft's Cthulu mythos. TSW doesn't count. For it to really work, there'd need to be permadeath, so that's never going to happen.

I would like to see Panzer Dragoon made into an MMO. I liked its blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Also, Deus Ex, and Mass Effect could be great, too.

The two best Pen and Paper RPG settings in my mind should bother be MMOs: Deadlands and Dark Sun. Some steampunk/horror/spaghetti western action would be so very sweet, as would crossing the sands of Athas as a thri-kreen ranger.

The Dresden Files. What a huge universe with wizards, werewolves, vampires (multiple kinds) and so much more... An adult MMO like Conan... The books give so much material and it doesn't have to be all fights because of the "detective" style of it.

Babylon 5, but have it on a 5-season "repeat" (ie, everything resets but your character progression) so you get deeper and deeper into the story, plus have special events and such in-between based off the movies, novels, and other parts outside the main show.

yeah, Dark tower would be a win as an MMO, Avatar (would have made a better game than movie anyway), Ringworld (by Larry Niven), and also i think the true blood books would be a good setting.

I would like to see Wheel of Time and Raymond Feist's Midkemia world as an skill base MMO.

For Dark Tower, I think the demon rape aggro meter might be off-putting for some, especially since the meter is actually a UI add-on you have to download.

I'm going to have to say Starcraft, as an MMOFPS, with seamless space to ground combat, as if Eve Online's combat was more like Jumpgate's and DUST514 was in the same game.

I really would like to see a non "heroic", non "epic", non "space opera", hard sci fi title.

Appleseed or Infinity (for those into tabletop wargaming), would be ideal IPs.

Deadlands: Wild West MMO
Twillight 2000/2013/whenever: Modern day military MMO
Shadowrun: I mean, holy s@%^, F^$$^^'n SHADOWRUN
Pendragon: King Arthur MMO

Now Im a Browncoat from the very beginning, but i just don't think Firefly would translate very well into an MMO. Combat was ALWAYS the last resort in the series and in MMOs combat is always the first choice.

Crimson Skies is tailor made for a MMO.

-Established lore. An alternate 1930's where America splitered into various nation states and aircraft has become the dominant form of travel and shipping.

-Factions to allign to. (Pirates vs Private Security vs Militia)

-Leet gear and character building. Ugrade your pilot with skills and upgrage your existing plane and buy new aircraft.

-Start a squadron(guild) and get a zeppelin HQ for PvP raids.

-Already has a following from the table top and previous video games.

Borderlands - The whole time I was playing it with friends I couldn't stop thinking how great of a MMO setting it was.

Firefly - Would love to see an MMO take place in the "verse", but this is one IP setting the game would have to be completely a sandbox style game.

Babylon 5 - Would love to see B5 as well, but I'm not as sure if a game could capture the epic feel of the story.

Mass Effect - No brainer here, this IP is just getting started and already has vast worlds to explore. Could play as Alliance or Cerberus.

Shadowrun - If done right this would be an incredible world to play in.

Forgotten Realms - Only if a good company was developing it, I don't want a Cryptic single unstable server with thousands of instances of Myth Drannor to have to choose from.

Dragonlance - Would love to play in the world of Krynn, but like Babylon 5 I don't know if a MMO could capture the epicness of the War of the Lance.

Star Trek - Would love to still see a real MMO based on Star Trek. Done by a company who doesn't say "it can't be done because it would take time to actually develop and we need to release in 16 months" when designing ships with multiplayer crew options, it would be done by a company that says "yeah, we can do that AND we know how to make it interesting and fun".

Wow, I totally forgot about Wing Commander. Yes, it would make for a great MMO. I remember shortly after UO came out there was talk of developing a Privateer MMO, but they decided to scrap it in favor of UO2 and we know how that ended up.
