How about an MMO based in the Quake 1 universe? I like the idea of having instanced dungeons based off of the original levels.

I would like to see some kind of Steam-Punk/Full Metal Alchemist type setting for an MMO. As for an IP? I would say create your own. We all know that great IPs do not always makes great games.

Some of the best IPs are original and so can be expanded upon or changed at will to fit what needs adding.

Sure books, movies, comics, bring some good background and foundation for an MMO it may not always work out well.

Neosteam is out now and is a F2P set in a steam punk world, although it's a bit on the anime side.

One based on the novel "Snowcrash" -

Cyberpunk. Cars. Factions. Skateboarding through highways. Corporations.

Actually there's a rumor that Blizzard's next MMO is based off of Snowcrash.

I dunno...I see several issues with this:

1) Big ego clashes between Neal Stephenson and Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan, I just don't see that as being a productive working relationship.

2) Blizz is roumored to want this for console, Neal wants it on a Mac.

3) How can you creat a seamless world with a 2 to the power of 16 km circumference without server meltdowns? Not to mention...that's alot of surface area to put content in.

4) And of coarse, making a virtual reality game about virtual reality seems a bit redundent.

5 ) And if you want your toon to be equipped with a dentata...how are you going to do that mechanic for a game that's rated "T for teen?"

A Babylon 5 MMO has been my dream since they announced Star Wars Galaxies. There is so much you could do with that IP and still have an authentic B5 experience.
You could have the run and gun ground missions of the GROPOS.
You could have the exploration missions of the Explorer Corps.
Gigantic capital ship battles like the ones that played throughout the series.
Space dogfighting against Raiders in a Star Fury.
An MMO version of the police procedural in space via Garibaldi's B5 security team. Psychic espionage with the Psi Corps.
Politics and trading. Ranger quests that span the galaxy looking for alien relics and ancient evils, or hunting weapons of Mass Destruction.

So much that you could do with it, that would fit perfectly into any type of game, unlike Star Trek, which tries really hard but can't help but miss several marks in the whole Trek experience. B5 is so fully fleshed out it would be wide open.

That's gonna be blasphemy, but: Twilight.

It would have an effect on the relationship of 'gamer' and popular culture that could no be disregarded. The mental image of 'game addict' shifting from a basement-dwelling fat guy in undearwear to a teenage girl (also in underwear, but that's more a bonus than a disgust factor) would be priceless. ;)

Firefly would translate well to an MMO I think.

I also think Bioware could do great things with the Mass Effect IP.
(Not that they aren't already)

One Piece. It could start similarly to Allods Online, but with no factions and with free for all PvP similar to EVE.

Just place in the OP world and it would be a winner for sure. But i would like to see this being developed by a Western company or else it would turn into a Asian grinder. Ofcourse the odds for this to come to light are extremely low...

A Mass Effect MMO would also be awesome. I even think that Bioware should've done a ME MMO instead of a Star Wars one.

Warhammer 40k is coming out as well.

Also maybe an Hallo MMOFPS.
