Exalted MMO! CCP now owns the IP but I would like to see them outsource the project. I don't think their brand of game development would lend itself well to a fantastic tapestry of heroes, villians, deities, mystical mayhem, and fast paced action. They still have to fix Eve first anyhow.

I'd also like to second (or third) the Cyberpunk 2020 suggestion. It could be a fierce MMO if done correctly, but I don't really see it doing well in subscriptions due to relative obscurity. Maybe change the name to World Domination, and make the focus on Corp Wars (guild vs guild PvP).

So many good ideas! Keep them coming!

None. Make up something new and original instead. Free your minds.
Existing IP has to make too many compromises -> reskinned WoW-clones.

I take this back - Fawlty Towers MMO would be pretty sweet.

I'm with you. Dump the IP and be original.

However, a Benny Hill IP might be fun and cheeky. ;P

Existing IP's usually get butchered into WoW clones for one reason: Publishers see the success of WoW and want a piece of it. They buy an IP and build a similar game around it because they expect to be rolling in money from the fanbase of that IP that may be playing WoW - Or people new to MMO's who'd get an 'easy ride', the entire reason WoW was so successful.

It's not about the making the IP into a game, it's about making a game and branding it for marketing purposes. Existing IP's can very much be made into MMO's if the publisher isn't a bunch if idiotic monkeys.

I don't want any known IP to be used, it sets the expectations too high and developers always balls it up. Let's have something new and original, preferably with a different theme to fantasy and sci-fi - say horror, Victorian England, proper steam-punk, for example.

Unreal Online would be a cool MMOFPS. It could be similar to Quake Live, but with massive environments to explore with veichles and, of course, Unreal Engine 3 graphics.

The Battletech Universe could make a truly awesome FPS/RPG mmo. There have not been to many successful hybrid FPS mmo's, although Global Agenda seems to be working out pretty well so far.

YES!! BattleTech would be perfect as an MMO if done right. You have your character advancement, then you could have your mech or other vehicle advancement. There's so much potential and variety of play if it's done right.

I'm glad someone said this. Battletech is such an underrated IP. I hope they get things figured out at some point and get on the ball. There's a lot of potential and a lot of room for some very innovative MMO applications.

"Battletech" would be my number one choice too, with other old FASA IPs "Crimson Skies" and "Shadowrun" not far behind (but not Earthdawn - I'm sick of fantasy MMOs).

I'd also like to see any of the following made into MMOs: "Transformers" (Marvel G1 or IDW universe), "Deadlands", "Car Wars", "Paranoia", "Rifts", and I'm really glad there are MMOs in production for "Warhammer 40,000" and the "World of Darkness" (shame it's not old WoD, though).

I think Dark Tower would be great if you didn't use the storyline and instead used the setting; like SWG did in the beginning.

If not DT, then some sort of gritty western theme. Maybe built around the artistic design of the No Name Trilogy.

A Terminator IP would have much potential.

I also agree with Ricotez that if you wanted to use a new and current IP Mass Effect is the obvious answer.

I wouldn't mind seeing a horror mmo such as Dracula. Plenty of lore there and there is most definitely alot of areas people can explore the horros in/around Transylvania.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender IP has incredible potential for MMOization.

Pokemon would be great too.

This would be good if done right -- maybe something like LotRO. Of course each quest would be 800-1000 pages long.
