The pace of information released about the upcoming Battle of the Immortals is increasing, no doubt to raise anticipation for the game's swift-approaching beta. The most recent post on the official Perfect World Entertainment blog offers more details on the game's mounts and pets, which look to be an integral part of the game's structure and offer a few interesting twists on the features. Mounts, for instance, can be upgraded for increased speed... but each upgrade also allows the mount to learn new skills. The example given was of a mount that learned to teleport short distances as well as running, a helpful trick to be sure.
Pets, on the other hand, can be almost any monster encountered in Battle of the Immortals. Players will have the opportunity to turn a defeated enemy into a pet "every now and then," which is a bit light on details but suggests either a long cooldown or a limited-supply item. Each pet can apparently have their skills slotted for a variety of roles, allowing them to be viable in both PvP and PvE combat. There's a week left before the closed beta begins, so if you're interested, take a look at our closed beta key giveaway to start out early.

You don't have any kind of cool down or need any limited-supply item to capture defeated enemy into pet. In Chinese version, it's random, whenever you kill an enemy, there's a chance for it to turn into a spirit like version. When that happen, your mouse cursor changes and you only need to click it to capture the monster. It will become your pet.
You can only have a limited number of pet in your possession. But after capture, you can summon it to fight with you, it will have its own exp bar and will level up, learn skill... If you don't want it, you can release it and capture something else.
I am not sure if the random percentage is different from monster to monster.

I don't get PWI's quantity over quality philosophy.
Not that their games are so terrible, they're actually fairly decent (though getting less and less distinct as each uncomfortably similar game comes out), but I don't see why they want to keep pumping out mediocre games instead of focusing on marketing and improving what they have...

Because their market works that way. It's a free-to-play market, so people tend to play multiple games at once. They don't have to buy game box so they like to try new game and they don't stick with just one game like western gamers usually do. So you have to keep making new game or you will loose market share.
