I upgraded awhile ago and just got the bonus, so not sure that rumor is correct. I received 1250 Lindens from linden grant, I looked him up on the site and saw this message: "Occasionally a resident will be given money and the message will be something like "Linden Grant Source: SYSTEM L$xxx" - This is not a payment from me, Grant Linden, it is your bonus for signing up as a premium account member. You get it 60 days after putting in your card info and upgrading to premium." So it isn't paid out till 60 days after the upgrade.

So we are no longer "residents"? We are "users" now? Like drug "users"? Still not "customers". Just "users"?

So Linden Lab has finally moved to begin ensuring there is no misconception of the residents that built the Second Life Grid as having any sort of inherent rights. "Second Life" is now just a walled garden monetized web site. And the customer identities and purchasing habits will be monetized as well.

Well thanks for getting that clarification published.

Don't mistake the our words for the Lab's. We clearly marked that we replaced the inaccurate proper noun 'Resident' with 'user'. And no, we don't intend the drug-reference by it, nor do we think there is anything in the context to suggest it.

I think the plug for adult content is the most interesting here and "may" be a precursor for changes to come like linking Adult access for new users to premium subscriptions? If the "first home" is not a good enough incentive, go for the big market. your "first ......"

Hmm - I bet those complaining about not getting their bonus payments are most likely right. For some reason Linden Lab has always had issues with paying out bonus payments. Remember the old "Refer-a-friend" program? Over the years it was active, it was broken twice (broken = no payouts). The first time it was broken for 6 months and the last time it was broken for over 1 year. Linden Lab refused to take the link down as they were planning on fixing it. Eventually after many complaints and after being accused for false advertising ... they finally removed the program without any announcement. I can nearly guarantee the same will happen here. So are they just plain evil? No, according to Linden Lab what happens is that the original dev leaves and nobody takes the project over. Since Linden Lab doesn't make money with bonus payments, these kind of programs as simply not a priority. I can nearly guarantee the same will happen here...
