I'm more surprised by the fact that they are only selling those 2 things so far. I expected character slots and the STO equivalent of vanity pets(shuttle craft?) on launch day.

Yup it's great!
It does nothing, disappears in combat, and takes up a device slot. Pure awesome.

I'm all typed out - if I regaled my experience of the weekend with Star Trek Offline, erm I mean Some Times Online, I'd be here all day.

Suffice to say, it's so full of utter fail and blatant cash-grabbing it's hilarious.

The best forum post from the weekend was titled "Server Announcement: Unexpected Uptime".
The devs deleting all the old patch notes and not supplying any for the past two updates was amusing, as were all the dawning realisations that the head-start allowed folk to outlevel all their 'special preorder items', just in time for them to be delivered later today (assuming more screwups don't occur with items).

With all the major bugs still present (same old missions not completing, item tooltip errors, missing icons, etc etc) and absolutely no content addition as promised (oh unless you count the new playable races, which you have to now pay for lol - and lets not forget that 'race' just means 'different head model'), and folks already bored of doing the same thing over and over and over and over some more it's just, well.. funny.

How's them apples, lifers?
;p

Lol bitter? Hell no - I'm loving it.
It's like being at the Fail Fair and having front seats on the biggest ride.

I'm getting more entertainment out of STO than I ever could have bargained for; just not from the actual game itself. =)

(But you actually wanted me to be bitter, didn't you.. aww)

I like my apples! I don't actually play with my Borg, but their customization is pretty fun. I'm sure I'll get to it since I have a load of extra slots.

If you don't like the game so much, why are you so... I dunno...bitter about it? I'm a casual gamer. I bought the LS and a collector's edition. And I'm happy with it.

Are there bugs? Yep! But there are what? 400,000 known bugs in WoW (Someone mentioned this number at Blizzcon). It's not perfect. No MMO is perfect. But things will only get better!

18,000 is now 400,000? Wow, your ass must be hurting after pulling out such a huge number out of it.

This kind of launch used to bug me... but now-a-days I have literally 3 or 4 other MMOs to keep me busy so I just shrug it off and let it play out to stability. I have a lifetime sub so I'll come back to it when the dust settles, no biggy.

I understand frustration back in the days when there was simply no other MMO to go to during the down time...

I just checked the C-Store on STO and I can not believe you have to pay to be a Klingon or Ferengi Skin on Federation side.

That is just money for people who are fans of DS9 imo.

There is no reason to charge for these.

Despite all the "negative vibes" here, I intend to try STO out.

I just want to let them patch it up a bit first before I do. : /

I for one am glad that there's cash shop stuff day one. Preorders come with 500 points. I want something to buy with that!
