The biggest problem with STO is that there's no challenge to it. The combination of zero death penalty and assigned missions without a free-roaming world means that you can beat everything you run into. PvE content is just something you get past, never a challenge. Never anything to worry about, and so never anything to get excited about.

We all play MMO's for different reasons and we all have different skill levels. What may seem easy for you could be quite challenging for another player. There are several MMO's that do not have a death penalty and are quite fun and challenging. I would agree with not having to worry about hostiles constantly as you are flying about or running around on ground does take away a bit of the excitement, but with enough group and quest content and just being a blast for a Trekkie to get into, while it may not be the best MMO out there when it comes to PvP or PvE challenges and end game etc... It will definitely be a favorite for many people who have been waiting for a Star Trek game to be released.

What has any of this got to do with the original article. Why do people just cruise the website looking for any tenuous reference to STO to post a list of criticisms?!

Seriously? For only having two year to develop STO--it's pretty damn fun. Sure, the first hour is slow, but the rest has been fun. In addition, with patches they can take their time to develop a lot more fun and exciting content. More than likely, they were trying to meet a deadline. That would be the publishers fault if you are unsatisfied, not the development team.
