Wow, Steam isn't even working right now. Did we blow the Steam servers up as well?

The power of nerds.

What a mess. They didn't even test that the lifetime subs could make liberated borgs before head start. Totally useless they are.

I wasn't able to get in-game to check myself before Steam deleted my client, but from what I've heard they actually can make liberated borgs in head start. They just have to make a dummy character, go to the C-store, and "claim" the bonus first.

Yeah, I'm pissed at Steam now, it just arbitrarily deleted MY ENTIRE STO FOLDER and is making me redownload it from the beginning.

That's normal. You had the beta client. Not the final client. Of course you have to redownload.

You are an idiot.

No BETA makes you redownload the entire client for retail. A BETA client becomes a full retail client once you get the last patch before it goes live.

Have you ever actually BETA'd anything before? You remind me of the clowns who start crying when it finally dawns on them that their BETA toon will get wiped before it goes Live.

STEAM screwed the pooch here. I got wacked with it about 12 hours before headstart started so I got off lucky! I was fully patched and ready to go before it hit everyone else. It was a STEAM error not a Cryptic error so focus your ire were it needs to go.

Been in all morning - loving it. No lag, hitches, rubberbanding and I am in Oz. The only thing I had to do was change my proxy from US (what I had to set it to in BETA) back to None - works like a charm.

Yea having to redownload from steam also. Plus they saying the c-store is down so that means life subs like me still screwed out of making are borg. That is if I ever get in the freaking game at 1.8mb/s taking 3hours to download new STO for steam

Yeah, same STEAM bug for me. Update the game using the launcher just in case about 12 hours ago, all was fine.

This may have something to do with my feeling smug because I did so, and there were people on the STO-forum who were having this problem ^^

SET PHASERS TO...wait.

Stupid STEAM!

I just kept the closed beta client into open beta and didn't bother with the steam download. I just started the download long enough to get the pre order code out of it as you seem to have to start the download to get it.

Been playing since Noon (CST) and am LOVING it. Lots of fun and haven't really had any issues. Had a few awesome group battles and once I get my homework done, I'm hoping to get into some more.

Well. Won't be doing that pre order from steam. Also won't ever pre order from Best Buy again after what I had to go through Wednesday to pick up Mass Effect.

So, I tried to access my pre-order and lifetime benefits, but I was unable to see a joined trill order liberated borg as options for character creation. I opened a ticket and got the feedback on the borg, but.... for the remaining items:

Given: As for special pre-order items - you will receive these items when you activate your retail key, on or after Feb 2, 2010. This includes the Joined Trill. The pre-order key only grants you access to the head start.

I am very disappointed in Cryptic once again. This was not disclosed to me at any time during my order, and it really does defeat the point of pre-ordering the game. The only benefit is saving on the life-time subscription, but all-in-all I am unhappy with Cryptic again. There is no point in playing the headstart now if I wanted to have a joined trill character... and, well... I wanted to.

Its actually been part of the Pre-Order FAQ thats been avaliable on the site AND in the forums for over two weeks now that bonus items would not arrive until after you get your retail key.

I was thinking while I was spending stupid amounts of time mining the planets in the starter galaxy how this would fit so well for what the STO fans want for exploration.

For those not lucky enough to play ME2, essentially you running a scanner over a planets surface until you see a spike in the meter. Depending on where the spike is, it determines the type of ore you pick up. You use it to upgrade weapons and armor and do research later.

As far as the first mission, you have to fight your way through a couple of areas, but along the way you help a young guy get from under the oppressive thumb of another junk dealer, you pick up some stuff for your team back on the ship, and you rescue a bunch of ppl from a plague.

This is Star Trek... with way cooler guns. But can this be an mmo?
