I think Interplay should work on fallout and Bethesda should work on elder scrolls

You make it sound like you want Interplay to come out on top? I'd take Bethesda any day even if it meant delaying for a whole new development cycle.

I'll take crappy gameplay and great story over improved gameplay with corny oblivion dialogue any day. Playing Fallout 3 is like listening to someone tell a joke they know is supposed to be funny but they don't get the punchline.

Well at least Fallen Earth is safe for awhile. I'm sure I know which would win the subscription battle on that one... at least for my $$ anyways :)

You won't take crappy gameplay for very long when Interplay can't even pay to keep the lights on. Really doubt they have the muscle anymore to put out quality titles. Oh wait... I forgot they just re-released Boogerman for WiiWare. Now there's a "great story".

I concede your point that Interplay probably shouldn't be making this game. Bethesda, however, has proven themselves as clumsy inheritors of the IP.

I thought Fallout 3 was fun, but I would agree with you that it certainly wasn't an inspired game. It was Elder Scrolls with a different skin, there's little point denying that. If Bethesda made some bold design choices and went out of the box a little (perhaps taking a cue from some of the strong modders of Bethesda games) then maybe we'd end up with something worth paying continually for. I guess for me Interplay has become something of an unknown quantity the past few years, we really don't know what they're capable of anymore.

Fallout 3 was a great game, even if it didn't completely capture the Fallout spirit. In any case, it's not like Interplay is guaranteed to do a better job. The original Fallout team has moved on, meanwhile Interplay is handing off development to an outside studio. At least Bethesda has already shown they can make a fun, working, critically-acclaimed, best-selling game. While I hope V13 makes it to launch and is fun, I doubt Interplay will be able to stay afloat for another two years before it can launch it.

They're not completely handing off the development (or at least I hope not, I'm looking forward to Masthead's other game in progress). Rather, Masthead spent some time developing their own engine and development tools, and it seems Interplay wants to make use of them.

Simply Put, if it is anything like oblivion or Fallout 3, then I'm not playing it. Say what you want about Interplay, but some of the greatest games of all time came from Interplay. Granted, its probably not the same company, but still its more than I can say about Beth, the destroyer of IPs.

"Destroyer of IPs?" Overdramatize much? How many major IPs does Bethesda even HAVE besides Elder Scrolls and Fallout?

Interplay will not ever be able to release a Fallout MMO. And if by some miracle they do, I fully expect it to be a garbage game and a blight on the franchise's legacy.

Lets remember that it was Black Isle that made those great games for the most part, and they disbanded long ago.

I honestly don't know. While I loved the Interplay of old the last years of the companies existance, before it completely fell apart, were filled with terrible game after terrible game being released in a desperate attempt to cash in on once lucrative game series. Does anyone remeber the BOS games for the PS2/Xbox or the equally crappy Baldur's Gate games they shoved out the door? Just seems the overall quality of Interplay took a bloody nosedive into the pavement once the Caen's took over the company from.. Brian Fargo I believe?

Just seems like this is yet another cash in attempt by the very same people who brought the company to its knee's. I personally wish Bethesda was working on the game, they at least showed some passion for the license.

I would rather see Bethseda make an MMO on Fallout. With Fallout 3 they had an awesome game that I got a lot of play out of. Hell I would come home for the weekend and play nothing but Fallout 3.

2 years is a long time when there is already a post-apoc mmo up and running. more than enough time for Fallen Earth to polish itself to unassailable respectability. i also seriously doubt a Fallout mmo would be compelling, the Black Isle writers and designers that made the franchise great left Interplay years ago. Well at least I still have my copy of Fallout 2 somewhere.....

Bethesda destroyer of IPs? Really? Elder Scrolls is their own... how can they destroy it? Fallout introduced a very niche IP to the masses and most people loved their view of it. So you didnt like it and loved the Monty Python references in the older games... good for you...

There is already another fallout online project going on. I've been playing it for a month. The maps of fallout 1 and 2 have been merged with some changes. There are different professions with levels, like armorer or big guns professions. Also theres lots of different factions warring of control of towns. People can move in groups. There are different bases that can be bought, underground- and outside bases, different cars, mercs, new items etc. Its on a beta test stage now. There's even a wiki for FOnline. Forum is here fonline2238.net/forum/.
