The Sith War in Star Wars: The Old Republic opened with a massive surprise attack that shook the Republic to its very core. That's pretty much all you need to know going into the most recent holorecord lore video, not because it's low on details but because we really don't want to ruin it for you.

However, things are definitely heating up in Master Gnost-Dural's studies of the events leading up to the current situation in-game. Plenty of questions are left over by the end of this video, but more details are promised -- and really that's par for the course of these updates. We're happy to want more, as the only other option is being bored with it and that'd be wholly disheartening.

I can honestly say that if this game is anywhere NEAR as good as it looks, it will pull me away from all the other games I currently play in the MMO category for at least a year! Course, if they pull a "galaxies" then I'll quickly be going back to Lord of the Rings Online.

Mmm spoon fed tiny snippets of a storey and a few pretty painted images. Gotta love how they give us so much info on what the game will really play like.... so far i've seen nothing that i can't get in a decent Star Wars novel. Is there even an MMO here - the entire game sounds like Boulders Gate with Co-Op play and lightsabers at best.

Did you forget about all the gameplay demos from the various conventions? We've seen lots of gameplay. TOR is a story-heavy MMO, so them laying some story on us is just fine. People have been wanting a new Timeline Video for months.

LOLz.The game is due for release in 2011 but you want full details of every nook and cranny of the game and details on all the mechanics.I'll wait till closer to release and you know small stuff like beta and dropping of NDAs and maybe even trying it before making sweeping judgements(which I'm sure at said time I will 8P)

This makes the Republic side look really pathetic and weak. I hope the game begins with both sides on more even footing.

You have to remember, the very first holorecord lore video is the starting point of the game and all of the videos after are essentially going backwards in time telling the "how we got to here". Yes, the republic has had their collective butts handed to them in a large surprise attacks and it appears the Empire has the upper hand.

For now.

I like how the video ends with a hint back that the surprise attack appeared to have taken several hundred years of planning, a possible hint of Darth Malak ideas.

Yeah...like the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour made the U.S look weak...remember how that turned out?

They are done in reverse order. You can see the current state of the universe by watching the rest of them.

I like these holorecorded lore videos. More mmo games should do something similiar on their sites.
