The first free expansion for Alganon, titled "The Dawning," has been getting a fair bit of talk from Quest Online. They've been a bit longer on talk than on details, however, leaving us largely to guess what it might contain aside from promises of new dungeons and large changes to the game world. Some of the silence has been broken now, however, with Systems Designer Josef Shindler breaking word on several upcoming class balance changes in the game. The most recent small patch contained a number of small class tweaks, but there are more extensive changes for everyone in the future.
Mages are currently in the best place, from the design team's perspective, but there are plans to allow characters specializing in one type of damage to branch out to other elements without sacrificing damage. Healers are also going to see some changes to damage, as their focus on one element makes them susceptible to enemies who are strong against it. Meanwhile, Rangers will see an extensive overhaul in terms of damage buffs and their operation in groups, and Soldiers will see several tweaks to their Anger generation to make its buildup and release more strategic. While it's not a great deal of information, it's good to see the design team keeping themselves hard at work on improving Alganon's overall class balance.

Ok guys, I want you all to take a deep breath.
Good?
Alganon is going to be going through a massively change.
That's right!
New UI, new starting area's even new character creation system.
It will be like it's a brand new game.

Guys, we're redoing the UI, starting area and character creation system because we've been exposed. Our investors are leaving us and we've barely sold more than 300 copies of the game. Our creditors are pounding on the door and every once in a while I come home to a flaming bag of dog crap on my front porch. So hopefully to recoup the mess we have made of ourselves we're going to try to change some stuff so our sheeple players can say Now it's a different game to their friends to get them to play. We'll probably just rip off LORTRO, EVE and maybe even WAR. At least we could probably get away with ripping off from WAR because that sucker is dying.

Dude, we're talking about a game that has less than a hundred players logged on during prime playing time. No, there ISN'T at least one person that wants to defend it.

This game is pure trite. When I tried the trial, I sometimes had the impression that it's all a big joke. Like Alganon is the ironic hipster of MMO's that imitates WoW.
Of course that was just wishful thinking on my part. Algano is simply bad and by that I dont mean simply unoriginal (how original ca an MMO truly be anyway?)
It's plagiarism to an extent that opening the diferent UI slots, I was literally going "wtf?" Not to mention how terrible it looks. The character models look like something out of 1997.

Lol, the first thing I thought of when I saw that screenshot was, "That looks kinda like the cave section in Halls of Stone"..
Im glad of Alganon's failure, though I do empathize with the devs just trying to make a living, but games like these that blatantly rip off every single other product in a manner that is close to plagiarism, should never be funded. The harder it crashes and fails, the less likely we are to have garbage like this ever seeing the light of day int the future.
Im sorry for the few hundred poor saps that bought into this and paid for a copy, even a subscription.

You know, I don't have a problem with a similar artistic style but Alganon is a complete rip off. It looks as if they actually use some of Blizz's art assets for the hotbars and such.
Alganon is a good example of a MMO that took Blizzards idea and style and did nothing of their own with it, just copied verbatim and added nothing.
Allods Online is the opposite. It looks similar to WoW, game play is similar but they add their own unique style to it and make it their own. The end game is also different.
Bottom line, Alganon is everything that is wrong with WoW "cloning" and Allods Online is everything that CAN be right with it, if done correctly.

I feel Alganon has a lot to offer those who enjoy a more traditional persistent, open-world MMORPG experience. Not many games released recently offer such a large and beautiful world to explore.
