This is nice to read, I've been debating reinstalling the monster that is AoC for a few months now. I wonder if that free 14 day return trial expires or not? Almost every MMO to come out last year has been severely lacking on PvP. AoC had a pretty fun combat system, we'll just see if I can stomach those last 40 levels of grinding. ;)

As beautiful as the actual game was and as excellent as the combat system is in AoC I always felt that the armor for all classes was really poor & thus halted me from being totally immersed in the world of Hyboria. I just couldn't get into running around in a damn potato sack with retarded sandals on or a stupid robe with horrible textures, etc. Also, the spell effect when healing as a Priest of Mitra or a Tempest of Set with the half naked body of the male Mitra or the snake Goddess simply put looked horribly stupid which meant that I would never roll a healer in the game which was another turn off.

Hah, I had forgotten about the atrocious looking armor. It was pretty underwhelming to play this gorgeous game for 50+ levels and you're armor never changes from being a brown sack. But I can overlook armor graphics myself, I'm sure at this point the armor must be looking better in the end game, and have some variety, I'd hope. What really turned me off from the game was that I ran out of finished areas to level in at the 45-50 level range, and I was playing on a PvP server when there was no PvP system in place. I'd like to give it a shot if those were rectified. I always wanted to at least see a Siege battle for myself.

The game has changed much in the respect to gear, I find there is more of it and better looking. Although, if you expect cool looking gear from quest rewards then you are in for disappointment. The best looking gear are blues from dungeons and it is some of the coolest gear I have seen in a mmo. The detail is amazing and the stats actually make sense now :)

I liked the armor in AOC. A lot more realistic grittier looking then your normal over the top decorative armor from other games. Kind of destroys immersion when someone comes out looking like they came off the set of pimp my ride with 80 spikes and a lcd blinging their way through the battle field.

I love the armor in AoC. I think it was a good design choice.

If you have read the Conan books many of the game choices make sense. People complain about the instanced zones and the lack of travel zones between them. Even looking at the game map would tell you that open world would not be possible in the world of conan.

It is the size of the real world and laid out much the same. No game could make a decent open world with distances that large.
