If re-capturing the altar isn't your style, then you can also go in and smash it. Smashing the altar doesn't give you any PvP experience, buffs, or renown, but it can give you tokens if the altar is more than 75% full of sacrifices.
Rewards and loot
"Interestingly enough, this PvP game pays out better for smaller guilds and strike forces than it does for larger groups of people." |
In this short guide, I've also not mentioned the merchant that spawns with a capture altar. This merchant basically works as a source of sacrifices if you're not able to find any of the rare resources, as he offers a crafting recipe that lets you turn common PvP resources into a small offering in the form of an Idol of Bori. This recipe, however, only works with an item that the merchant sells, and he only sells one every five minutes.
All in all, these Shrines look to offer Age of Conan players with what they love -- more outdoor PvP. The whole setup of these shrines seems to reward players who kill others holding the rare resources instead of going out and mining them yourself, which should make the Border Kingdoms more of an interesting place.
Look for this new system on the test server during the next patch, but don't expect it for patch 1.06. Funcom wants to take their time with this new system so it works perfectly when deployed on to the live servers, so also expect that some of the above instructions will change as players test and offer feedback.
