I haven't read every single comment to make sure this hasn't been said but Cryptic have explicitly said that the ability to re-spec is coming to the game very soon.

I really don't no why people are always complaining about things in new or old games. its always something Then it the fps, then its the stats, then its the lore (Lotro), Then it the lack of content (nobody was complaining with the 1st Mario Bros about the content and you can play the whole game within 10 min.) , And I can go on like this for a few more pages.

Lets Face it there is NO perfect game out there. (If there was then there is no need for other games any more) Every Game has its Good things and Bad things.

You just like the game or not And if you like it you play it if you don't like it don't play it. its that easy. And with some games more people like it then other games.

For me in this case with STO I like it and I know it has it flaws but I still like it so I play it.

So please stop complaining and Play the game or not.

The makers did and do put a lot of time/efforts in it to make it as nice as there can for as many players.

So... one to beam up and go to warp 8.29....... Engage.

I agree with Seladina. You can't satisfy everyone's expectations. If you don't like the game, don't play and move on or back to WoW. It's ok to post your opinion once but to keep hating on the thread related to a game you don't like or don't want to play is just sad.

There is no true Z axis. The videos show up and down but you can't aim UP and do a full loop ending up where you started. You have to go around the non-existent Z axis and approach your targets from an angle. You should also be able to roll your ship in a spiral but with no Z axis it's impossible. In space there is no "up" but you can't orbit a planet on the same plane as the asteroid field and have the planet directly under you, it's always to your side. It's a cinematic preference which matches the television shows and movies, not realistic space flight.

The small bonuses given by traits appear to be more "flavor" than a game breaking advantage which is not to say they don't stack up but it only helps you to a point. Knowing where to maneuver and gain position in a fight and how well you know your enemy is more important.

Yes it's not perfect but if you want close to perfect space MMORPG go play Eve... it's great fun, but it's not fast paced or quick to get into. What STO misses in 'realism' (which I might add Star Trek has never had! and you’re a fool to think otherwise) it makes up in fast pace action packed fun! So stop your emo fanboy whining get out. If you don't like it, don't play it.

Why do you emo forum flaming half wits have to character assassinate anything that fails to meet you’re impossibly hight fanboy standards... Surely you must have something better to do, or maybe not, which is quite sad really when you think about it. Sat at home screaming at the world with all you angst trying to express you 'expert' opinion and no one care or listens... well except maybe to make fun of you :P LMAO.

On a less directly flamy note.

Character creation by it's nature has to be done first so you have a
character that has stats; so that the game system has a means of know
how likely you are to fail or succeed at something. Letting you do
tutorials to discover what you want to take wouldn't really help
unless it was so insanely long that you could try out all the
different skills etc. So any suggestion for that kind of system comes
from a naive or inexperienced mind.

Having been doing RPG's for 20 years (TT, LARP, computer games,
MMORPG etc) this system is used because it IS the best way of doing
things, or more to the point the only way it works well. If you can't
work out what traits you need then - you didn't read the manual! Thats
what its there for! If you still can't work it out ask someone who
knows more or find a document like this one.

MMORPGs means- Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.
Role-play is about making a character, creating there mind, emotions,
background etc and then role-playing that character. Not about
max/min's so you can make it the biggest blow s**t'upus character it
can be. We experienced and true role-players have a term for that;
it's called tinwking or a twink; when referring to the individual
responsible for the described action. MMORPG's are full of um, non-
RPG's who just don't get it. You look at it just like any other
computer game.

If you are one you missed the whole point of what a RPG is all about,
and are normally the people who complain about there not being enough
info to max out your character, try think about this... Maybe
that’s the point! Maybe ‘we’ don’t want you to be able to do
that with any ease; I’m guessing this little point never entered
you sophomoric, unimaginative, uncreative, puerile little minds!

Arrogant, self opinionated (ever so geeky), rant over LOL.
