NBC and GE providing the capital? NO Thanks. Not interested in playing a game where I'm going to be preached at about being green. On top of that, SyFy is going to cancel its TV show after one season and the MMO is going to get underfunded and forgotten. This has disaster written all over it.

Ironic that you should make a statement like that on the same day that Massively ran a different article about the lack of innovation in this industry. At least Trion and SyFy are trying to do something different. Maybe it will work, and maybe it won't. But at least they'll be well funded, which is a lot better than can be said for SyFy's previous attempt at this with Cheyenne Mountain and Stargate Worlds.

I will agree with you. This has the potential to go horribly wrong. I sure hope it doesn't. I hope it comes out to be fantastically awesome.

Interesting thing to note is that it appears to be a fantasy oriented game. Which is not what I was expecting.

I was expecting a Tabula Rasa type game.

I wouldn't be too quick too judge because if the steps are well thought out and not rushed I believe that this can be a whole new way of gaming. I mean if Blizzard was to announce a WoW television series do you think that it would fold in one season? the truth of the matter is that it would be another successful check mark on blizzards list of things to do. More than likely it may fail but like Aurickle said they are taking steps to inovvate the gaming wolrd and I for one would like to see just what kind of results they yeild from this venture.

I'm most interested in what SyFy's CEO meant when he said that Trion is focusing on games that are played on a server instead of your computer. Isn't that like every MMO on the planet?

"...are working to revolutionize the way you watch TV and play video games." The examples are a still from a random sitcom, and what looks like some sort of Pong variant. Goofy.

Some thoughts.

They are going to need a seriously good live team on the game.

I'm guessing that the TV side is going to be doing most of the writing, but can they adjust to the limitations of a MMO? :"Why can't we do this?" "Well, the game mechanics don't allow it, and we don't have art assets for that." "What?"

You just know that if anything in the game has a chance to affect the TV show, that will attract griefers trying to mess things up.

I don't know if it's fantasy or not, Heroes of Telara was announced before all of this, I think. And that's what they showed mostly.......

This looks really interesting, regardless of what happens they are really putting their necks out and trying something different and it should be acknowledged! I think this game has fantastic potential, but also the ability to fail miserably. Regardless, this game will be interesting and I plan to follow this game intently.
