Five brand new exclusive Star Trek Online screens. We know open beta is basically here and that screens are now significantly lower on many people's list of priority-one alerts, but this one is for the less fortunate ones. You know, the people with families and 40+ hour a week jobs.
There's some cool looking high-end armor to ogle with your optical sensory orbs. Mayhaps you fancy yourself a gentleperson of the finer things in Trek? Well, in that case, we recommend the classic-ish connie style Enterprise. What you can't have? What you can't have, is anything having to do with the show Enterprise or a man known by the name of Archer. No, bad Trekkie!

Can't wait for these guys to be playable. Romulans, ftw!

Really sad what they are doing to this game. Releasing it with one playable race and a partially working klingon monster play because of intense player feedback on the stupidity of releasing a star trek game with just the federation. It smacks of Lord of the rings devs making this game and not thinking things through.
At the very least the major races should be playable but are not, this is going to be a very ugly launch once the fuzziness of the federation disapates and the limitations of the klingon play sets in.
Wouldnt it be the supreme joke to have them charge for each new playable race in expansions. *chuckle*
To bad the Romulans wont be available at launch, sad work Cryptic, sad work.

There's nothing open about ST:Os open beta, you have to be a fileplanet subscriber to get a beta key which means you have to pay. Fail, Cryptic, fail. Open Beta != Paid Preview.

I think they're giving keys to a lot of sites, so I'll expect to see a million keys everywhere.

I normally don't comment, but these comments are terrible.
@Grall
Way to spin things with inaccurate terminology and general ignorance of the state of the game. Lets get things straight. There are two FACTIONS, not races. There are nearly 6-8 (I don't recall at the moment exactly) "official" races for federation not counting the mirad options of "Unknown" and about 5-6 of them for Klingon. There hasn't been much official data about how the Klingons work outside of that they advance through PvP, so unless you have been playing, you're making assumptions, and considering how oblivious you are, I doubt you've been playing at all. I also find it hilarious that you're basically lambasting them for listening to the community.
And they probably will add Romulans in as an expansion. Boo fucking hoo. Do you want them to launch the game, or just keep grinding out content from their apparently infinite budget and taunt you with features for a game that will be outdated by the time it releases? I'd rather have them do proper missions and features for an additional faction in an expansion than simply shit one out with rehashed content just to make it there for release.
You sir, are either a terrible troll, or a glorious moron.

Dont take him seriously, all he does is troll the site. I've yet to see a single post of him saying a single good thing about an MMO featured here , so either he only plays WoW or he plays nothing at all and just trolls them for the sake of trolling.
And all the post always have sound effects and crap like *chuckle* or something of the like? Really man... it gets old.

Only reason I let my yearly membership slip is beacause when it was time to renew I had enough stuff to keep me busy where I wasn't worried about the chump betas they had out. But I loved it while I had it.
That said there are all sorts of ways to get into the beta that don't envolve money. For instance, you could have been in the closed beta. I know there are those ppl out there who think it's silly to be in a game in progress, but it might be worth it to you to get into the close beta and them you may get pulled into the open beta to see if it's something you wil like down the road.

Has anyone got to play the beta yet? Opinions?
I am downloading today. Just curious to see what people thought WHO HAVE PLAYED.

And set your phasers to FUN!
Okay, even I cringed a little after reading that.

Played in closed beta. It is a nice game overall. It will not be a game for everyone who wants something Star Trek and it does not have everything and the kitchen sink in it.
The parts that are in the game though have been quite fun when the tuning has been right.
Be prepared for a lot of combat.
