The latest Eye on Community from Aion team member Andrew "Tamat" Beegle covers two of the biggest issues in player's minds these days: the recent account security breaches, and upcoming new content.
This month's player question was, "A lot of players are wondering about the future development of Aion. Since the Aion Vision Trailer we haven't heard anything." Tamat does mention that something as big as the Vision trailer will naturally lead fans to expect something concrete, and promises a "significant amount of content" this year brought to the game through several updates.
He also addressed the continuing security concerns, reminding players to take what steps they could to protect themselves on their end. Check out the first Eye on the Community for 2010 here.

Someone should tell the guys at Aion to stop developping.
The game - as it was announced at launch - is nothing more than a shadow of its former hype.
Not a single western person in his right mind is interested in killing yet another massive amount of mobs to advance yet another level to a non existent end game.
Aion sets back the word grinding to FF3 levels, meaning a set back of at least 7 to 9 years of MMORPG development and design.
And no, creating a zone and calling it PvP is not good enough to be considered better than the F2P style ... it has written all over it.

Whilst i do still play Aion, i can't help but agree with some of the negative comments people make - the grind, lack of enough endgame content, etc, however it's a shame because there are large chunks of the game that are very good indeed.
The atmosphere and world design, the level of polish (UI, etc), and most importantly, the combat, which is really fluid and enjoyable.
The community reps, on the other hand, are really great at saying a lot about nothing at all. Just a bit of actual information would be nice, because i'd like to be able to play this game for some time to come, there is still potential.

Oh No..... an MMO with a *gasp* grind...... At least they are semi honest about it in Aion. Most games try to hide it with a bunch of Fedex & kill some bunnies quests....over and over... more of the same....
Imagine if you people had been this harsh over WoW in it's first year.....
I swear... if it's not handed to some players they just don't want it.... Would you all rather just have an MMO that starts you at max level??
I do believe the game needs more content, I get that. But, what almost all mmo's are lacking now are story and development. Hopefully the new Star Wars MMO solves some of this.

I was thinking of resubbing to Aion for a bit, but after looking at this I remember why I left. 6 mos this game will be in the bargain bin at Target unless they address the problems, if they do we should all give it a chance again imo. Game has potential but they need to remember we are not Korean.

Are you kidding me? Complaining about Aions grind then moving onto another FF online.
Did you play the current FF online? I did years ago and Aions grind is NOTHING compared to FF online was. I expect more of the same from the next installment.

Actually, Final Fantasy XI had great stories to follow, better than any other MMORPG on the market. Now it did have segments of grind, but also, at least you had to be in a party for most of it which was more entertaining.
FFXIV I'm sure will have much less grind, especially since they announced that content is much more solo friendly, and you'd be fighting more than one monster at a time.
Plus FFXIV isn't using the same Ho-Hum systems typical MMORPGS follow today.
FFXI > Aion anyday. I thought Aion's grind was worse than FFXI. Much worse.

I'm sorry Tizmah, did you get to like level 20 in FFXI? I mean no disrespect but it honestly sounds like you never played the game at all.
Yeah, there's a great story to follow... from 1-25 and from 70-75 (with a lot at 75) on your first job only. With grinding when you're not doing story missions, as they provide very little exp advancement.
Aion has quests you can do at every level to keep things interesting. FFXI's quests give no experience and usually are either impossible or no challenge - it's very hard to find one at your level. Aion's grind was SO much easier than FFXI's, and SO much quicker.

Well, That's both of your opinions. I found FFXI to be way more entertaining than Aion. I'm sorry that you can't understand that and like to insist on trying to persuade me or think I'm some crazy man. I happen to understand why you'd rather play Aion. You just prefer grind to story. Your more than welcome to keep playing Aion.
But for me, I'll be with FFXIV, Thank you :)

I'm just trying to understand why you say you prefer story over grind, yet your actions speak the opposite (by saying FFXI > Aion).
If you're going to argue about why you prefer FFXI, just say that its story is so much better than Aion's, or you prefer being required to group for experience. Don't make up junk about FFXI having less grind.
From my own experience, it takes at least a month, grinding every evening, to get to max level in FFXI. That's if you're even able to find a decent group every evening, and do nothing but attempt to XP. In Aion, it takes about three weeks, and you can even solo the entire way if you want (but you don't have to).
The only way I can see FF possibly being faster is if you have a good static party that meets nightly. Good luck coordinating that, though.
Don't get me wrong. I loved FF for years. For me though, I've already experienced just about all the story it has to offer, and leveled everything I was interested in leveling. SE double-charging me every few months got old too, not to mention many of my friends left, so I can't bring myself play it anymore.

Myr, For one, I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan. So that alone adds to a fact why I like Final Fantasy more. For me, story and grouping does outweigh Aion when Aion focuses more on solo grinding and phat loot.
I didn't say FFXI was faster, I am merely stating that I think FFXI handled it's grinding situation better than Aion is handling theres. A party made it more entertaining and doing the missions and helping out friends with their story lines made it even better. I socialized ALOT more and was given more opportunity in FFXI than Aion ever gave me.
I care more about Story in my MMOs. MMOs should not be an exception to good story anymore. Again, sorry that it's hard for you to believe some people actually prefer a good story :)
Basically, FFXI grind was more entertaining than Aions. That's just how I feel.

Another vague and useless waste of time interview from someone on the Aion team.
These fools should be in politics with their ability to put spin empty statements.
