I knew someone would take issue with #5, and I'm sure several people probably share your opinion of Mono.

I do not.

LSL1 is fine for tiny, simple scripts... but try to do anything more sophisticated than updating prim attributes and you'll find it is just too freaking slow. Not to mention the memory limitations... when they expanded the message length for listens ... suddenly LSL1 scripts all over were running out of memory and crashing.

Mono does have a larger memory footprint which, apparently, is contributing to other problems (such as teleport-related lag spikes) but from my first-hand perspective, it's still a significant improvement.

It is way simpeler. LL has no clue what they are doing and they never had. It is a technical company good in building the technical environment. For the rest the scared people away with their overnight polocy changes, arrogance and the worst communications and customer service I have ever seen in a company. They are doomed like most companies who had too much succes too fast because they were the first and only ones for too long. Second life is also too expensive and in 2010 Opensim alternatives will win and put Second Life out of business. Remember my words. It is a sad story of such a good invention. They owners and developers of Second Life should be ashamed of what they did to this potential "new wonder of the internet".
