Well, every class for Star Wars: The Old Republic is out for the world to see and discuss, and you know what that means: time to start considering your first class. We find that most people fall into two categories here. They either pick a class archetype they're very familiar with (tank, DPS or support) or go for whichever class appeals to them thematically. You also have those who simply go with something different for the sake of variety.
As for this particular blogger, it's safe to say the Sith Inquisitor is likely to be the first character rolling off the creation line come launch day. Then again, there's always beta to consider as well... hmm, the choices just don't stop, do they?
Well, what say you, good readers?

Smuggler or Jedi Consular look like they will be fun.

The adition of a second Jedi Class make the choice a litle dificult, but I think I'll go with Jedi Consular. But the Trooper also catch my eyes...

Well it's either going to be a Inquisitor or I am going to turn a Consular in a evil SOB. I think turning a consular to the evil side would be fun. :)

I honestly had hoped for more classes. I find that 4 for each side so limited given the scope of this game. Don't get me wrong. I am very excited for this to come out and will most likely get the CE. But with a game in the IP of Star Wars, I was expecting a little more. I understand there will be "branching" as one person pointed out, but from what I have seen in the past from Bioware, that's merely determined by light side/dark side progression.
SWG (pre-nge) really spoiled me on the classes and skill progression. What's funny is, the masses have been wishing, hoping, praying, screaming and yelling for a game like that to be developed and there are no developers jumping all over it. It would be a CASH COW. Especially with the SW IP.
But, things being what they are, I'd have to go with the good ole Jedi for my first class.

keep in mind that these are base classes. i'm betting there going the specialization route w/ different talents available for each class kind of like in the new SW table top game. not to mention didn't the dev's say somewhere that these classes will have the option of switching sides later in the name. allegiances to factions only start out aligned the way they do. and who know maybe they're toying w/ the idea of dual classing, like in guild wars.

Jedi Consular first and then all the rest.

I'd love to be a consular/inquisitor but I have a feeling that those classes will be the most overplayed since everyone thinks those are purely force powers. If I go republic I'd probably go Trooper and Sith I'd probably go Imperial Spy. The jedi knight/Sith warrior also have their appeal though.
The only class I think I wouldn't play is a smuggler. I find their looks extremely unappealing compared to all the rest.

I'm going to play trooper myself, then maybe try smuggler if I don't like how the trooper class turns out.

Smuggler to start with. Followed by Imperial Spy, Trooper, Bounty Hunter than the Jedi ones. As much as I like throwing the force around, it has been done SO much in almost every Star Wars game to date, playing something different is like a breath of fresh air. Plus, I just love the Han Solo archetype.

How could you possibly play a game like this (with the story, sidekick characters, voiceovers, and cover system) and not play the Smuggler?
Seriously, I'd be surprised if the people playing the "Jedi classes" in this game out numbered the Han Solo wannabes.
Cause lets face it, the prequels proved it, you have to have Han Solo to make a good Star Wars anything.

Bounty Hunter, without a doubt. I've idolized Boba Fett for some time now, so this is like a dream come true.

If you can hunt player Jedi as a Bounty Hunter then I'll play that, otherwise I'll make characters with all classes and see which one I prefer.

Trooper.
But might try out all classes to see which I prefer.
