That's because they want to I think. You wear what you want, unless you're a min maxer in which case you'll find yourself covered in anything you can find/craft/buy. :P

I'll disagree these girls look anything like super models, they just look fit as we would all be if we were out running hitting people and creatures in the head and munching on canned dog food. ^_^

Actually the guys can be wearing next to nothing also. The character I had was actually wearing a half shirt, I had this image in my head whenever Id play that he was also listening to Wham!.
Although everyone looks "in shape" most of the defaults are actually small breasted and fairly standard girls, granted the hairstyles are a tad "softballish"
