I think that, wheter you like EVE or not (and I love it), Dust is one of the most important experiments in this decade IMO, because it is actually doing something we rarely see in games: community level integration between two games. Not only that, but between PC and consoles.

Think about it. As of now every game we play is it's standalone world, with it's own community and goals. But there were no connection, no bridge, between two games (in a strong community sense). And players are trying to connect through games, with the use of voice chat between friends playing different games.

And, of course, CCP is also hinting at a sort of "changeable persistency". You make an action, and this actually has enduring consequences. I have been a part of wars in EVE, and I know that things we do have lon term-effects. But truth be told, outside the MMO realm such thing is sparce. You play a match and that's it, it's fun, all right, but maybe it's time games go beyond. You play a match, you completed a contract, you changed the tides of war, you can see that, and it goes on. You can play in the PC, and then play in your console without losing the immersion.

I'm not saying the system is perfect (it's too soon to even tell if it will work or not). I admit it might be great or it might be broken. But I also like to see the possibilities for the genre, and I appreciate when a company actually takes a risk with it's main brand to try to achieve such possibilites.
