Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment reveals Stargate shooter instead of MMO

Now I'm not interested at all.

HA! They're nothing if not clever! They're just using the Torchlight model. Create a game to fund another game. Although, in this case they're probably scrapping SGW for spare parts to rush out this new shooter.

YES!!! I want a single player Stargate game now SGU make Stargate like a soap series I did give all hope ever see one! But here it is! And this is pretty much the dead of Stargate Worlds but I do not think Stargate did work well like mmo anyway. Well for my exceptions of a mmo that is!

I would like to see StarGate Worlds land in the hands of CCP.

I wouldn't mind seeing a third person squad-centric shooter in the same vein as "Freedom Fighters".

AWESOME!! About time someone was going to work on a stargate shooter. I wish it was EA though.. nothing like shoot'n some G'ould wit a P90 :) Call of Duty: Stargate *drool*.

Honestly, there's no space for a Stargate mmo. With Star trek, Old republic, Jumpgate, Eve... well really doing a shooter is probably the best way to go.

The MMORPG was proving to be too big to manage and to fund as a smaller developer, so Cheyenne switches to a smaller-scale shooter game project, while raiding the assets of the MMORPG project.

If the shooter turns a profit, it funds the company and the MMORPG.

This may be one of the smartest "We're not dead yet!" moves I've seen in a while.

I wish Cheyenne well; while I've never been a big Stargate fan, I already know I'd take a chance on the shooter before I'd sink $60 + 15/month on an unseen SG MMORPG.

So, a company promoting one piece of vaporware has decided to move onto another piece of vaporware. Seems like a lateral move.

Oh, Stargate Franchise. So full of fail.

Well for what it's worth, I'm happy that it happened to this game and not STO.

Who wants to bet in six months they'll announce Stargate: Peggle?

Since they were very close to losing the license I have a feeling they're doing this to satisfy some contractual requirement to get "A Stargate Game" out by a certain date.

As fun as Stargate is, the sun is setting on that franchise. If they don't get a game out before Stargate: Universe ends they'll have missed the boat on Stargate's popularity.

Look at Babylon 5, it was an awesome series but there probably won't be anymore of it. Can you honestly say it would sell now after the franchise has been on ice for 10 years?

You might be able to get a Battlestar Galactica game off the ground, but only if Caprica does well.

Regardless of the issues with the SG franchise, can anyone really say Cheyenne had a better alternative? This actually has a chance of success, or, if you prefer, becoming an actual game.
