Enter Youtube user MidoriPeanut, who managed to catch an Aion GM in the throes of a banning spree and recorded it all for the rest of us to enjoy. The movie features the GM blowing up a number of goldspammer ad stores, all set to the dramatic Syringe by Emilie Autumn. Sure, this could all take place behind the scenes and the offenders would quietly disappear from the world, but isn't it a lot more fun seeing them cast off to hell by a cutesy animal? Get out the popcorn and head past the break to see the banishing in action.
NCsoft has always been fairly vocal about about their assault on Aion's goldspammer and bot epidemic. They bolstered the game's spam filter a while ago and their Game Surveillance Unit reportedly banned over 27,000 botting accounts just last week. It's great to hear about these positive statistics, but if your game experience has been ruined in the past by some of these unsavory characters, you might be looking for something more visceral -- and thankfully, we've got that for you.

First thing I've seen on Aion that looks good. It looks just like WoW though. Why should I switch to another WoW game when I already have WoW.

Wow.... first thing I see in this video is that all the toons look the same the armor is out to make out... GM pulls off a Marketing thing big deal! And someone just happen to run flap at the same time! Look our GM blow up the spammer store all the spam problem is sold. I am just happy that WoW does not have to sink to this level of Marketing or that crap they pulled last week with that trailer..... Come sub to us people look how the game will look in 50 years from now!!

There's no comparison when comparing Aion's character customization to WoW's. From character creation down through armor dyes, Aion kicks WoWs ass in that department. There are likely many, many valid reasons you may prefer WoW over Aion, but graphics and customization are 2 things where Aion wins out.

I do not agree with the many 1000s of armor you can pick up in WoW you do not need a ton of character customization for it. Also Aion's tool is just a head fix you can not make your self fat or tiny....

Jack, please at least play the game before spouting off garbage.
In Aion, you can make your player look pretty much any which way you want. Your body, head, everything. In wow, everyone ends up striving for the same armor, so everyone looks the same at end game. Same thing in Aion, but you can completely change how your armor looks (all aspects of it).

WoW has some of the most notorious marketing around. The truck commercial? Shatner as a Shaman? MOHAWK GRENADE?!
Don't even use that as an excuse. The reason GMs don't show up in person is because the majority of them likely don't have to, in order to resolve issues, or they aren't around to begin with.

There are many reasons not to play Aion. The two listed above are absolutely not valid reasons.
Aion doesn't look like wow at all. And the armor and character customization is one of the best I've ever seen. I often find my exact twin in Wow. In Aion, that will never happen.
It is really great to see the botting situation pretty much under control. These public bans will now stop the regular user from considering it, which was always the worst part of it.
...next up for NCSoft... content. =)

This looks like cheap marketing.

a GM should NEVER show themselves in the game, it is immersion breaking

As immersion-breaking as playing with thousands of other stoopid humans at the same time?

@vizionblind: If that's the case, then all role-playing games have been doing it wrong for nigh on 30 years. I have the feeling you will be in a very small minority.

Lots of respect to NCSoft. They are working very hard on Aion, it seems.

I'm amazed at the people saying it's cheap marketing or immersion breaking.
WoW did the EXACT SAME thing. I remember watching several spammers exploding in spectacular fashion in Stormwind.
I guess some people will bash a game for anything.

What you saw in wow was players exploiting a bug with logging out after dropped a Fire nova totem on a shaman.
This was rather quickly patched out by blizzard and before that it was a reportable offense that would get you a temp ban from logging in if you were a repeat offender
