This video got me so hyped. Though I'll agree with that a lot of the women were "over sexualized", some of those outfits were downright ridiculous. The game looks insanely promising. If it works the way I hope it works, it could revolutionize MMO combat and maybe pvp.

Sera lets JP have his opinion because JP is entitled to his opinion, just like Sera is entitled to talk in the third-person.

Anyone else notice the giant fat blob creature the girl was fighting at around 4:30? I have to admit, the moment I saw that I thought, "Oh this must be the 'Invading American Culture' boss. Trust me. He's not defeatable."

Otherwise the game looked gorgeous but way too cutesy for my taste (Aion is about as far as I can go in that direction, and even that's pushing it) and I can't imagine I'd be able to run that game on even the lowest settings...well maybe if I by a new computer five years from now...

On the one hand that dose look seriously flashy and fun.

On the other hand the skeptic/cinic/ part of me is saying "Oh yea sure lets see that work half as good as it looks."

The big potentual thing I am seeing here is tht while the whole knockdown/knickback thing works in a 1v1 street fighter type duel when you start getting more people involved it can get REALLY annoying REALLY fast.

Finally I think the characters are seriously oversexed.

Its VERY possible to have a character look good, even in full plate armor while still making it look real.

Even in a fantasy world swords still cut stuff. The only reason ancient cultures got away with fighting naked was because they only had wood bronze and iron to work with.

Even then the smart ones put armor on.

Watching all the nerds 'sperg out and get all extra serious about some boobs in video games is probably the best part of these articles.

I have to ask this JP, and I don't mean this offensively or anything, I really want your input on it because you comment here alot and I like what you have to say.

What do you think of the Dead or Alive series? Much like this?

I ask because I just don't remember that much controversy surrounding DoA, yet I'm just fascinated at all of the controversy that is surrounding this title.

I'm also skeptical about this game. With my experience on Korean MMOs, the trailers always show flashy combat and nice graphics. When the game finally launches, gameplay is boring, content is really lacking and it's a huge grind that it becomes a chore. I really want to see Blade & Soul break away from that old formula and offers some innovation and fun.

Yep. That is indeed the same Dead or Alive. (Really didn't like the beach volleyball series here personally. While the volleyball wasn't bad, the game really lacked anything else worthwhile, while the fighting game is a lot of fun and well put together.)

I see where you're going with your opinion though. I can't really defend B&S for the young look of the characters, as I think they look kinda young too, but I dunno. I hate the idea of someone telling another person not to do something because of some connotations that may or may not be there. My guess here is that the game designers really don't intend to put an association to real-life violence against young girls. They just want their girls to look sexy and Asian, and some Asian girls can look really, really young for their age.

But hey, thanks for answering mah question. :) Gives me some more insight and more things to think about.

lol yea, the chicks are alittle outrageous and the classes do look race based. But the thing that turned me off was how easy it looked, I didn't see much of a challenge all I saw was endless combos that can kill enemies without even touching you, and the pvp with the other races was like I'm stronger than you I automaticly beat you!

Please forgive me if this sounds like a troll, but wow was that ever boring!!

An mmo focused around tna and combat might get a 13 year old excited for 30 minutes, but I can't get over how shallow it felt. Looks like "dead or alive" mmo...

Oh, and those great graphics are cool, but if they are just the background and not playable / explorable areas (like aion), then they are useless.

Not buying the hype on this game...

I'd like to know what you all are smoking because that looked pretty impressive to me. Some strong, detailed graphics, really interesting classes (even the mages fight in a badass way) what looks to be some cool mission cutscenes, and some nice touches like how that guy with the axe knocked his opponent off a cliff into next week.

I'm sorry you all are so serious about the cgi boobs that it's blinding you to what looks to be an impressive teaser video. I'd love to see how those fox creatures play in different classes, or what kind of advanced moves that gun-using ranger class has.

I don't see how you guys are judging the combat by this video. For all we know all the animations we saw are initiated by simply standing in front of a mob and clicking the "Super Spinning Slam Dunk Chop Your Head Off" button. Where's the innovation there?

Sure the graphics look nice, now how about a video showing something truly innovative that can keep me entertained past the first 30 days? Or something besides kill 20 skinny guys with large jugs on their back, come back and I'll have you kill 20 more mobs?

Legendary Korean artist Hyung-tae Kim, is known to most for his work on the beautiful Magna Carta RPG series and he is also known for his stylized exaggeration of a character's body unless some have been living under a rock or having their nose to deep in some purple chick ass...

Reading some of the comments here reminded me of the Inquisition "I see evil everywhere"

Honestly this entire breast controversy is getting a bit tired. Some seem legitimately concerned but others just seem to like stirring the pot or taking the perceived moral high ground.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of research some people have done. While a translator program isn't the most reliable thing in the world, a quick run over the korean Blade & Soul site has gleaned a bit of info regarding the races.

Here's the broken english translation of the race page
"1. Humans have a similar appearance, adventure, and through training to develop their skills and awareness 'Jean' Group
2. Descended from an ancient dragon to have a strong physical strength and the 'Gon' Group
3. Only consists of women, has a beautiful appearance and elegant, the 'I' Group
4. With a cute appearance, are born into this great spiritual sympathy 'Lean' Group"

Essentially:
1. Jin - Humans for the most part and probably the biggest culprit of the controversy
2. Gon - Strong physique and consist of both male and female (a female is the first Gon you see in the video)
3. Kun - All women (Notice the main one you see is fairly flat chested, someone even mistook the person as a feminine male???)
4. Lyn - Cute people with animal ears and very childlike

I think the main thing people are upset with is the breast/figure combo, as both exist (for the most part and probably less so for the figure) in the real world but generally not together. It's really strange though, that people are jumping on this when the big breast/skinny figure thing has been around for a while and in quite a few other games and media. Perhaps I just missed all that controversy or perhaps it's just now surfacing, who knows.

On another note, I love ranged classes but I've come to accept that they're just really hard to make cool looking when fighting (why else would he be swinging the guns every 2 seconds ;p ). I also love the detail in the faces. I don't know if the game is already planned for a NA release, but if it is, I hope it's within the next 2 years. D:
