Since last week was all about space combat, we wanted to round things out nicely for this week's Star Trek Online community Q&A. So, with that in mind, this week we'd like you to give us your best and most burning questions about ground combat and how it fits into the game.
We'll give you until the end of Wednesday, December 2nd to submit your questions in the comments section below. Following that, we'll round up a cross-section of the most popular and most poignant ground combat questions and by next week your answers will be here, straight from the folks at Cryptic. As before, we're open to suggestions on next week's Q&A topic, so feel free to throw your hat into that ring while you're typing up those Q's for Cryptic's A's.

Besides "flanking" and some "special skills and kits"; what are you adding to make ground adventures as interesting and exciting as the amazing space combat system?

Will there be Exploritory missions on the planet. Puzzle games in the planet. Solving Riddles captain Picard style or is it all shoot-em-up gaming? I think its important for a game such as star trek.

What type of weaponry can we expect from the start for Federation players? Simple hand phasers or compression rifles? Also, as has been constantly stated, with diplomacy and scientific options being available in space combat, will those possibilities be applied to ground combat as well?

What are the career paths and how will they play differently from one another? The Medic/Doctor is fairly easy to figure out, but the others are a mystery.
Elaboration on how "found" items will be used in regards to increase knowledge? For example, does this mean there's some disassembly skill that will allow us to modify weapons or build better tricorders? If so, will we be able to share schematics with fleet members?

1.How will we be able to communicate during combat with your enemy?
2.Will you be able to beam the enemy back to your ship?
3.Can you disguise your self as one of your enemys?
4.Can you get your starship to fire at the enemy on the ground?
5. Can you capture your enemy?
6.Can you use telepathy as an attack if you create a species to have telepathy or create a species in star trek that already has telepathy?

Yes i was wondering 2 things.
1. We know there will be Klingons but will they be playable? I have heard yes and no on the forums. I would like to know if they will be and what other races can we expect ingame within the first 6 months?
2. I was also wondering will we be able to visit places from the whole star trek franchise ie..talos IV, Cestus etc...

Destructible Enviroments?
Doubt it, but it would be so cool.

On average, how many times am I going to have to zap someone with a phaser before they fall down? (Reminder: in the show, the answer is "one.")

Will there ACTUALLY be a variety of skills? And don't just answer with vague pseudo-information, I'd like details on the amount of skills, and tactical abilities any given team member would be likely to have at near-max level. Also, will it be a variety as in, for a variety of uses not just a variety of colors on skills that do the same thing, per Champions.

On the ground do you have a set player that you control every time you beam down, or do you have a choice between multiple officers that you have developed?

You are always you. You can choose who you bring down with you.

Is it true that you are using the Champions Online programming for events such as being knocked off your feet etc? Will the animations be changed to not be a direct clone?

How will grouping with friends work on ground missions? In particular:
1. Do instances permit groups?
2. What is the max group count?
3. Can we swap friends out for Bridge officers as our ground crew?
4. Are there penalties to groups in open or closed instances (like how Champions have runners - which by the way is absolutely no fun. Constantly chasing runners != fun. Unfriendly support beamed in seems more STO style. I hope you handle it this way instead).
Thanks

Is there one shield that covers the entire body equally or four independent shields like space combat?

Will there be enough on the ground to do to make it an immersive, compelling combat system -- something that rivals space combat in complexity, or will combat be more of a simplistic part of the game as something else to do beyond space combat?

1. What did you have for breakfast (in detail please, no vagueries), and how will this effect the characters' crouch animation?
2. Will the breakfasting animation be a lazy, cash-grab rip-off clone of anything else you've worked hard to develop for colourful superhero games and thought might be considered a 'company asset', or will it be something totally unique? (Remember, the answer here determines whether or not I buy the game, as well as how much angry spam I generate on the STO forums post-launch).
3. Can we set our phasers to 'overload' and leave them to explode?

How vital is the ground game compared to the ship combat percentage wise? ie. 50% ship 50% ground?
Can players fully play on the ground if they chose or will you be forced to play the mixture of ship and ground combat?
Can the ground missions be considered dungeons of current mmo's?
