There are a few nagging issues and one caveat is that this beta is running concurrently with an open beta in the developers native Russia so I am not sure how much true input we have. I would imagine that the Russian forums are the ones being frequented by the Developers.
All our bug reports need to be emailed in.
The Allods English forums are only visited by a forum admin or two although we do have a group of Russian players who report back to us about the progress being made on a few of the major bugs. One, the Rest XP issue is supposedly fixed in the Russian Beta and will hopefully be fixed in our CBT2.
The game is fun and different enough where I am sold. There's currently no auto-attack and melee requires a bit more concentration than most other MMOs I've played since timing your cooldowns and strikes is so important.
The graphics, while not technically ground-breaking, are stunning in their design and textures.
I am a click-click-click-hunt quest guy but a lot of these quests actually got me caught up in the lore. That was unexpected. There are still "kill 10 rats" quests so the quest dynamics are nothing new but there were definitely a few that were unique.
The classes and races are nothing new and the talent selection is very familiar. The only thing that saves that part from being a bore is that combat is a bit different.
Combat takes a LONG time to kill a mob but downtime is almost nil so in the long run you end up going through the same number of mobs/hour as the typical fight/rest/med system.
I really like this game.
