No, thank you.

It's got wow quests... i don't even care anymore it's a clone, i just don't want to be babysitted while playing a game. :\
you're told where to go to get a frigging quest, because of the damn exclamation marks
You're told where to go to collect the rats
You're told where to get the next quest.

Where is the damn game even, please tell me what are people even doing? There's no reason to socialize anymore in those.

Someone do something, nuke all MMO software companies.

He was probably here to destroy the website, but just got caught up in the moment.

But in a way I agree. Allods innovates a little less than Aion did and seems to play out a little more repetitive and grindy as well. If I were poor, it would be great, but I'm not so I'm putting this one right in the bit-bucket.

You should probably play for more than 5 minutes before passing judgment.

Allods is far more group oriented than WoW is and seems to aim to offer much more challenging, engaging combat.

He may be blunt, but he's got a point. I think Allods looks like a well-implemented game, but for a lot of people, yet another race/class/level/quest-grind-to-level-cap MMO simply isn't what the genre needs as we go into 2010.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the Beta and am looking forward to CBT2 next week.

There are a few nagging issues and one caveat is that this beta is running concurrently with an open beta in the developers native Russia so I am not sure how much true input we have. I would imagine that the Russian forums are the ones being frequented by the Developers.

All our bug reports need to be emailed in.

The Allods English forums are only visited by a forum admin or two although we do have a group of Russian players who report back to us about the progress being made on a few of the major bugs. One, the Rest XP issue is supposedly fixed in the Russian Beta and will hopefully be fixed in our CBT2.

The game is fun and different enough where I am sold. There's currently no auto-attack and melee requires a bit more concentration than most other MMOs I've played since timing your cooldowns and strikes is so important.

The graphics, while not technically ground-breaking, are stunning in their design and textures.

I am a click-click-click-hunt quest guy but a lot of these quests actually got me caught up in the lore. That was unexpected. There are still "kill 10 rats" quests so the quest dynamics are nothing new but there were definitely a few that were unique.

The classes and races are nothing new and the talent selection is very familiar. The only thing that saves that part from being a bore is that combat is a bit different.

Combat takes a LONG time to kill a mob but downtime is almost nil so in the long run you end up going through the same number of mobs/hour as the typical fight/rest/med system.

I really like this game.

Do yourself a favor and grab a beta key.

Allods is a fantastic game so far.

Yes, it's a WoW clone, but it's a WoW clone done right.

It's familiar enough to be comfortable and intuitive while making changes to fundamental game mechanics making it feel like a completely new experience.

It's definitely worth checking out.

A WoW "clone"? That picture makes it look more like a WoW "rip off".
That Orc (?) looks like it was lifted directly from WoW...

Well... it's (yet another) one of those 'Actually, this IP came first"

I can't actually verify this with my feeble google skills, but I've heard that the Allods IP predates Warcraft. I assume it was another tabletop game in Russia, I'm guessing a Warhammer ripoff. And fanboys will also to be quick to remind you that Allods Online was in development before WoW (which seems like kind of an irrelevant argument if you ask me).

When I saw that pic I kinda /facepalmed (why THAT screen of all screens?).

Grab a key and try it out. Allods is more of a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid. Yes, it's reminiscent of WoW, but honestly has a completely different thing going on.

For instance, group-operated air ships, that fly through the astral (the astral's kinda like space) raiding other players' ships, discovering new or contested Allods (islands in the astral, kinda like flat planets lol), or maybe encountering wandering raid bosses.

Its true, this is very much a game in the tradition of EQ/WoW/etc. It does look similar to WoW, but its art style has a distinct feel to it, at least imo. Certainly the Empire, with its idealized soviet-styled buildings and such looks nothing like what I've seen in other fantasy games. The music is also top-notch.

Normally, I can't stand kill X of Y type quests and that gameplay. I played the last Aion CB weekend, and after that I could not bring myself to replay even the three first quests in the open beta. I don't know what it is about Allods, but I happily levelled up 3 characters to 10 on the League side alone. Some of the quest text/stories are amusing, sometimes even making fun of the kill X of Y paradigm (at one point, an officer on the Empire side questions why the scientists have been making you do this).

PS - I don't play WoW, tried it a few weeks during one of the beta stress tests long ago and that was enough for me...so, yeah, not sure why I like Allods.

I just got this tweeted from #AllodsGame:

"Quick clarification: Your CB1 account will work for all remaining CB's! You won't have to worry about obtaining a new key!"

So the only ones who can use these new upcoming beta keys are those who have not already been playing.. er... beta testing it.

Every time I try to redeem the beta key on the allods site, my browser (I've tried 3 different browsers now) gives me a security error and blocks the window.

Internet Explorer says something about an unsigned certificate.

Anyone else getting this problem?

No, I think the gist is that it IS very clonish in the same way that WoW is a clone of Everquest is a clone of Dark Age of Camelot is a clone of Warhammer is clone of etc...

They've switched things up a bit and it's a fun game. There are enough unique things and they've done some things with combat that make it worth your time to try it out, especially since it doesn't cost you a dime.

Clone or not, it's an extremely polished and entertaining game. That is ALL that matters.
