Lots of shooter/action MMOs coming out in the future, and we here at Massively are eager to play them all. From the 256 player battlefields of MAG to the chaotic, persistent territory control of Global Agenda and even over to the streets of APB, more MMOs are taking the route of the action title and avoiding the point-and-click style of the MMORPG.
So, readers of Massively, what's your shooter of choice? Are you more of the first person, character development style of player that's embodied in MAG? Would you rather customize your character and your ride while shooting up the town in APB? Or are you up for some spy-fi jetpack action in Global Agenda? Or, do you want to take the none of the above option and lay down all of your chips on PlanetSide or PlanetSide 2? (Mmmmm... PlanetSide 2....)
Shoot your mouth off in the comment box below! See what we did there?

i c wut u did thar.
My shooter of choice is generally Halo 3 if I'm playing with friends or - though not entirely a shooter, strictly speaking - Team Fortress 2.
As far as MMOFPSes are concerned, I am absolutely itching to play Global Agenda. I also had a bit of experience with Huxley in the closed beta not too long ago, and it's actually rather decent, minus the fact that they decided to go the way of P2P instead of dedicated servers, resulting in some pretty intense lag oftentimes. But really, Global Agenda, and ahmigod I would give some kind of entirely unnecessary organ or appendage for Planetside 2. I loved that game when it first launched, and I would love an updated version.

DUST514 as for the first time a fps (mmofps even) will have some real consequence for the result and behaving badly will be punished

I find it difficult to believe Dust514 will work that well with EVE, it is different in playstyle and i would imagine a lot of the EVE playerbase will be frustrated that their world is being influenced by a game they dont play. Furthermore, the game is not even going to be out on the same platform as EVE. So i predict this is all just marketing for CCPs new game, which will have minimal to no impact on EVE.
I myself have high hopes for APB. The different setting and playstyle to normal MMORPGs i play should be fun for a while, even though im not that into gang games and culture...

I'll stick with Quake Live thanks.
Also Wolfenstein Enemy Territory for more tactical fun.

Wolf:ET... YOU WIN!
Best Shooter to this day. Only reason I don't play it anymore is because I played it soooo much back in the day.
Easily the best FREE FPS that you can get. Though it easily ranks up there with paid games of it's era, and I believe it can hold it's own against modern day games too.

Tom Clancy-branded games are my shooters of choice. Rainbow Six Vegas games being my gold standard for weapon realism and cover mechanics. Though I do enjoy Halo 3 as well as Killzone and Battlefield games, so it really boils down to "no Call of Duty style, plzkthx".

Very much looking forward to ANY MMOFPS that does things right.
I'm just looking for a giant Counter-Strike-ish world with Quests and then PVP zones (or Battlegrounds) that will have large-scale battles.
MAG, Planetside 2 and Global Agenda seem promising but we'll see how they play.

I don't know about MMOFPSs. I guess I have a hard time understanding what I'd be paying a subscription fee for, but I have the question regarding all PvP focused MMO.
As for standard FPSs, Halo 3 would be #1 followed closely by MW2.
MW2 might be #1 soon though. The level design for multiplayer is some of the best I've ever seen.

Dust514 hands down. Same paranoid, brutal EVE universe but as a shooter. Whats not to love?

APB, not just for the FPSness, but for the leveless advancement, the robust character customization and the lack of a subscription fee. As players can make anything in game they want to wear, I am hoping the only thing we'd be paying for after launch is expansion packs

I played a game with 255 other people at the same time. Over 56k. It was called Tribes.

Borderlands is close enough to an MMO for me. I forgot how games could still be multiplayer and yet have a player-centric world and story. I'll come back to MMO shooters when they bring back that old Planetside feel of mass, perpetual warfare.

I'm playing Borderlands for my shooter at the moment too. It's only slightly multiplayer, but it's incredibly fun and one of the best shooters I've played in some time.

I'm gonna have to say..... Earth Rise!!!!!!!!
It's not so heavy on FPS as MAG or Global Agenda, but I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm also looking forward to Global Agenda, mostly because it looks like Tabula Rasa mixed with Quake.
MAG doesn't really interest me that much, probably because I'm not a big fan of huge battlefield games.
To have alot of people, you need a big map, but when only a certain number of players join that huge map... it's really lonely and empty.....
