Very well written.

This is what new players should be learning, day one, minute one, when doing the industry and/or business tutorial.
Instead you learn less then nothing, get a whole lot of irrelevant info and skills, and a pair of industry ships you can't even fucking use. (on a trial)

They should have players take items from one location, and try and sell them to players in another location (not fixed), within a given time span.
Of course giving them information like this, and showing them HOW to make money as a newbie industrialist.

The NPE is seriously borked.
Kinda want to kick CCPSoundwave and co in the teeth.
(I believe they a working on it)
But their nice, so they'll have to settle for slap to the back of the head.

i gotta agree with the NPE comment, i introduced a friend to EVE and had i not been sitting right next to him he would have quit after 5 minutes, and even then he only learned very very very basic PVE.

I imagine that story telling and NPE tutorials can be a bit more welcoming once incarna hits, i mean start in station with flashing icon over a tutorial greeters head and start getting info via conversation etc. people tend to skip big text splashes

bravo to yet another excellent article!

I found my way into trading some time ago, and I have to say, It can be just as exciting and entertaining as "real" pvp. Only this time, I'm competing with Tycoons about their market control, instead of competing with players about their controlled space.

Everyone should have a go at it sooner or later.

You've got yourself a deal, Chris :). I'm sure there are tons of tips and tricks I take for granted that other players might benefit from. Looks like it'll be a three-parter then! I've been wanting to do another article on EVE's secondary financial markets and running an investment scheme but that can wait until much later. There are plenty of useful guides on their way on things I haven't covered yet. Hope you enjoy them!

Great article, and while i am not really a trader anymore, as a new guy this was one of the things that made me fall in love with eve.

I remember getting my first badger and doing a little buy low/sell high sort of stuff when i decided to take this one big chance at a score, and dip into low sec for really high buy order on tritanium. I lost a big chunk of my meager little bank roll when pirates who may or may not have placed that order to lure fish in like me destroyed me!

It was an alliterating experience as I completely took responsibility for the risk, and it was just a really cool thing to have happened. I play eve to this day because of it.
