I get the game was bad, but as one of the first people to have been accepted into the closed beta I can only tell every one reading this that the biggest problem with the game was that the developers didn't fix a damn thing we told them about while we tested it. The game could have turned out as a much different beast if they didn't screw around...They just took our bug reports, said thank you, that took a nice crap on it all while talking to us on the forums like we were all lifelong friends. Oh yes, they spend FAR to much time on the forums..
The biggest mistake ANY of the people who developed MxO made was becoming too friendly with the people that were playing it.. During beta and after the game was corrupt with people who just so happened to make friends with some one on the other side of the code, getting all kinds of perks and inside information on the super hard puzzles we were ALL supposed to be trying to figure out.
Find a bug, report it, wait for a new build.. its not fixed.. nearly a year later, the games been out for at least 3 months, same bugs are there.. go back to the game after Sony's buyout of the game, bugs are still there.. go back for the server shutdown party... THE BUGS ARE STILL THERE... All of which could have been avoided in the, near, year we were testing the game.
And screw his "Ultimately, MxO was a very compromised game.." statement. If you, as top developer of the game, couldn't open your mouth to whomever was stifling the creativity and tell them that the game was pretty much turning out to be crap then you had no right to be there at all.
Seriously, you were there to make a game people wanted to play, to craft an interesting world based on a movie property that completely connects to the idea of "your in a computer" with almost no limits to what that world could really do and you feel creative pressure? From who? The Wachowski Brothers, who penned maybe one whole story for the world you were creating and fled like it was eating their souls when it wasn't working out?.. Or Warner Brothers? Who put millions into that game for what? For the developers to be so spineless that they couldn't tell them the game was in trouble before it started?
I get that a lot of times people use betas to try a game out for themselves but believe me when I saw the Beta testers of MxO were not like that. If they were, most of them wouldn't have stayed till about the very end.. His statements spit on all off us...

It's just very aggravating to have a game that could have very well been one of the best MMOs of all time, specially something the community took a lot of pride to try to make happen, and have this guy come out years later and pretty much write it off as something entirely different then what it was..
Creative pressure doesn't stop you from fixing hundreds of bugs.. Unmotavated developers who rather make friends and talk on the forums to the community do...
