Ship customization & skins: Does the look of the ship effect it's stats? For example: I have a Constitution class with the TMP nacelles and I upgrade the engines. Does the nacelle change to a different graphic? I know you can upgrade your ship with more powerful engines, sensors, etc but is that upgrade tied graphically to your ship's skin?
If you tie the graphics with the stats then that will limit players ability to customize their ships.

I noticed that each ship type on the Federation end has three sub-builds each. Are these builds cosmetic or will there be differences beween each one?
In the EuroGamer Expo, ships seem to move too fast in combat space, will ships move slower (assuming not an Escort) in the Beta or final build?
Will cetain ship models be able to target more than one enemy, ala EvE?

Please make the ships move slower in combat, and make the ground combat more tactical. Pretty please?

Will Klingon players have access to cloaking devices? Will they be a separate piece of equipment or will they be built into the ships. What limitations placed on its use? How do you envision players using cloak in PvP? Will it be an important part of how Klingons fight?
Will there be space object collision detection/damage?
How long is the down time between engagements in space? Will shields/energy reserves/hull damage recharge/repair at a faster rate out of combat?

Are there plans to incorporate more ship models in the future? If so, at what rate?

mac? ever? inquiring steve jobs groupies want to know!
also curious about a universe / mission / star system / ship / scene construction kit (i noticed there's already an alien race construction kit.) ever thought about something like that? i've been kind of amazed with community efforts like black mesa (source) ... producer / consumers building custom / enhanced experiences. legitimizing and supporting that dynamic would be teh ossm.

Question:
With the Klingon Empire now consisting of the Orions, Gorn, and Nosskin as well as the Klingons, why is it that there seems to be only Klingon ships available to players? --After launch will we see added content that makes ships of these races available to players?
And, the Vulcan Science Academy made the ship that Spoke flew on the mission to stop the Super Nova with the Redmatter; will we eventually see this ship technology used by other Federation planets, whether for civilian ships or Starfleet?

Is there anything innovative about the ship combat (gameplay) to
differentiate it from the other multitude of MMOs that are out now?
In that I mean, will experience only come from killing stuff as opposed to working out a different solution to the problem. Most episodes in Star Trek weren't about blowing stuff up, but about finding a peaceful solution if possible.

I'm with Gomer! " will experience only come from killing stuff as opposed to working out a different solution to the problem. Most episodes in Star Trek weren't about blowing stuff up, but about finding a peaceful solution if possible."
I would really like to know about all of the things that the game is about besides combat. Star Trek was never all about combat.
Player housing "state rooms" crafting. social tools, etc. what is in STO as far as these things go?

I just would like to know if the Intrepid class will be available, not the new replacement for it, but the original Intrepid class from Voyager. Also, will the Delta Flyer be available? Or other shuttles/small ships?

I can answer this one for you. The Intrepid class is in the game. It is a Captain level Science ship. Here's the link http://www.startrekonline.com/ships

What role will science vessels play? Especially in non-combat options. Are we talking trapsmith rogue, or more of a healer? Or both? What paths of progression are there that do not directly involve fighting?

Will we be able to keep lower level ships when we progress to the next level? Will flying smaller/lower level ships have an advantage or will bigger always be better?

1. When we accumulate multiple ships will we get to keep our old ones?
2. If we can keep them, where will they be kept?
3. How will we switch between different ships?
4. Are there plans to have a Captains Quarters like form of player housing with an ability to have other captains over for some "Earl Grey, hot"?
