@onetrueping:

Looks like the mistruths from the C-Store bashers have gotten to you. Cryptic is adamant about never selling power sets in the C-Store. Never, ever, ever.

The game's newest power set, Celestial, was given to everyone with the Blood Moon update. The C-Store does not sell, and will never sell, powersets.

Oh, and I left out the inexplicable Steam client crash when I tried to participate in the zombie cabin PvP minigame.

CO just folded up and crashed to desktop, giving me one of those ubiquitous 'submit error' windows. Error submitted. Attempt restart of game, with Steam friend looking bemusedly on.

Patcher started and promptly crashed. x 3 (because I like stubbornly beating my head against walls and double-clicking the same icon.)

This was definitely a technical fault on their side since I'd just been in the game enjoying myself and was getting addicted to the acrobatics travel power animation. Heck, I kept trying to get in because I didn't want my game to stop.

It took a reboot to clear up whatever residual problem there was in memory, which then let me start the Steam client and let it download a minor patch once more before getting back in game.

Two hours later, when I gingerly tried to set foot in the PvP minigame again, it all worked smoothly with no crashes. Weird. Not exactly stable, but not terribad either.

No matter how you Ms. Brennan and MrBounce try to cut it, package it and speel it out, I don't like MT's in my game I have subscribed. Whether it's CO or WoW, because I don't want my game turning into somthing like those F2P's, where progresssion is only based on the size of your wallet instead of your skill.

That being said, I am sorry to hear of you bad free weekend with Blood Moon. Though I had not experienced any difficulty other than Cryptic server going belly up occasionally. And that's nothing really new, it's been like that since release.

However, I will happily say, despite all of that and my standing criticisms of the game, that I have actually been enjoying it of late. I found a little investment in defence has made my characters go along way with pwn'age that rivals WoW. I just sincerely hope with all the problems this game has and it's dubious RMT mechanics, this game survives...because the game is actually good under all that. :)

Ive been a wow player since day 1 almost 5 years ago, ive dabbled off and on in other games along the way, but never really stayed past that initial "free month" with them, but my wow sub has always been active.

I was looking forward to this Free weekend cause i wanted to try out CO, I tried some CoH back in the day and really enjoyed it... CO installed and ran fine for me (tho i had to adjust some settings down to go from like 2pfs to well over 60 lol game ran great after that tho!) I got to level 20, and I had a lot of fun, I still havent decided if I will go and buy it (money's tight.. yay economy!)

CO had its downsides, I didnt care for the 100 person limits on "zones" just made it feel kinda small, but I do understand "why" they did it. The game overall felt small... however coming from wow 5 years of polish and content I was probably expecting more then was possibly avail for such a new game.

Looking back on it in perspective Im still excited about CO and its potential, right now for me WoW is at a lul, waiting for the next content patch (which is soon!) to find more reasons to login, and part of that might be why CO had such appeal. if i had the money laying around, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat, give a REAL 30day try and Im sure i'd enjoy it. Im still curious about its grouping and end game, and I'll frequent its website and forums to hopefully learn new things

Everyone seems to be trying to compare the two games, and its hard not to compare any game to WoW since its the premiere MMO that kicked off the widespread popularity of MMO's, but in my opinion they're two very different games filling two very different niche's I hope someday to be able to enjoy them both, my poor Munitions guy dressed like a sweet Gramaton Cleric is stuck logged off for the time being :(.

Champions Online free weekend was not a bust in my opinion, true they had to do one maintenance period and had an unexpected server failure... but even after 5 years Blizzard / WoW still has those.

I didnt notice much lag myself. I think it was a success, I was avoiding this game for a while cause the beta was getting terrible reports and the bad news kept going.

Now I see a game that is a bit more polished and I think I am going to start playing it.

For MMOs in general, AMEN!

MMO providers are quickly becoming the WORST in service. Imagine if your cable TV had as many problems as MMOs have! In fact, basic-basic cable is about $15 a month, and you get dozen or more channels. If you sub to more than one MMO, you might even pay more for those games than you do your TV, yet we sit by and let hem provide inferior service.

Think about service. Garbage pickup, your electricity, the mail, heck - a haircut. What would you do if, while getting a hair cut, the guy stopped mid way to "patch" his comb. Then gave you a bad haircut and said he didn't expect so many people to come in that day, but he will upgrade his scissors next week if you would like to come back. In the meantime, however, please pay up.

I found the free weekend to be enjoyable and not at all the bust that you seem to be making it out to be. In fact I was one of the people to commented in the feedback thread saying that it was fun but I'd wait until later to pick it up, later ended up being Wednesday.

I didn't encounter any lag, the only connection issue I had was an hour or two of downtime on Saturday and I had no problems with the patcher, although I did plan in advance and downloaded/patched earlier in the week since I typically expect the first day with any MMO to be spent downloading and patching.

Granted I did not log in on the weekend until after 6pm, I had no problems during the free weekend. I had patched earlier so I can only comment on lag, which I had none. The desert zone was packed with people PvPing in wolf/hunter. The worst was just switching to a different zone number because I wanted to get my Hunter perk but the wolves greatly outnumbered us.

Even when some wolves 'cheated' and cast that healing circle, everyone ganged up on that person and took him down anyways. I've yet to experience the zombie apocalypse map but i think i'm too low for it anyways.

For the first event, I was pleased.

I hope in the future though they make the cosmic villains more than just a large bag of hitpoints. For example, it would be nice if during the launch you could concentrate fire power on the leg of a Mega-Destroid. Either it would cause it to take extra damage from then on and/or some of its powers would no longer function.
