Turbine is stepping it up with their newest Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood trailer, Lieutenant of Dol Guldur. The voice acting, editing, music, creatures and setting are all enthralling to a degree that goes beyond our standard expectations. We've no doubt this one will get people's blood pumping, and in a good way. Seriously, this is the kind of stuff you expect when a company adopts an important IP -- especially where the voice acting is concerned.
We can't wait to see what the future holds for Turbine trailers, especially considering the locales of Middle-earth the game has yet to expand into its world. Rohan? Helm's Deep? Minas Tirith? Osgiliath? Thinking of trailers for all these places makes us tingle with anticipation.
Check out the trailer after the cut.

I think the trailer is very well done. I just found the game, which I considered to be gorgeous and well-made from a graphics and design standpoint, to be extremely frustrating on the grouping front -- I kept getting stuck again and again trying to find groups for quests and instances and finally gave up on this MMO.
WoW, at least, made some concessions to lower-level players by "solofying" much of its elite lower-level content (i.e., making elite areas and bosses nonelite), thus allowing solo players a fighting chance of completing their quests. Turbine has yet to address this issue and -- until they do -- I will NOT return to LotRO, however many expansions they might add.

They are revamping the lower level area's to be more solo friendly. It's just taking a long time. So far they've done Bree, Ered Luin, and the Shire. Lone Lands is getting done with SoM expansion. North Downs is scheduled for the following book update and so on until they are up to Moria. You can completely solo Volume 1 Book 1 now. The same will be true for V1B2 on Dec 1.

Yea..... I'd love it if I knew NOTHING about Lord of the Rings but as it is I just can't see past the huge lore twisting to enjoy it. Talking both the trailer and the game here.

I just sat down with Dragon Age :Origins this evening, MMO's don't seem very much fun anymore.
I don't LOTRO is epic enough any more, it's a bit limp. People are cock-a-hoop about 2 minutes of voice over, Dragon Age has HOURS. Let's get this into perspective people, 30 minutes from a good voiceover actor, and walls of text in game, I know I'd rather they address this balance a bit ore.
I know the two aren't the same type of game, but given LOTRO's heavy 'PvE' content, given the option of getting radiance gear over and over, or creating my own adventures and watching peoples reaction to 'quests' makes Turbines offering seems strangely dated.
Now if only Dragon Age was multiplayer....
With regard the trailer, average, graphics look awfully dated now for some reason, the vistas are lovely, I think it's the animation, not sure, something looks odd. To be honest I'm a bit sick of Turbines attitude to this IP. I'll wait and see how this expansion is, but given it's a bit of a rip off in terms of price, their shoddy pricing structure, they will need to impress, more of the same isn't going to cut it.

I still can't believe they didn't make Dragonage like NWN that allowed multiplayer servers. They really lost a great opportunity.

Rule Number 12006 of the Internet:
As soon as someone declares something to be cool, interesting, or fun for them, a horde of e-peeners will fall all over themselves in a rush to be the first to pronounce the same thing "meh", "fail", or "lame" -- all in the hope that this makes them seem somehow smarter, wiser, or more discerning than other people.
It doesn't.

Well, at least this trailer was a significant step up from the last one. Still, Turbine's trailer skills are severely lacking. LOTRO is (half-assed PvP aside) the best MMORPG I have ever played. It's nothing new or groundbreaking, but solid, traditional PvE and a reasonably decent loyalty to the lore make it an amazing MMORPG and great game to play.
The need to go watch ArenaNet's GW2 trailer to see how a trailer is really done though...

You are absolutely right Jess...GW2 has got it right.
That was the best trailer ever! However, I do admire the fact that Turbine ONLY used in game footage and did not try to dress it up with computer graphics...
And Mr. Angry - you are totally entitled to your opinion and I respect what you have to say here, but I DO have disagree with you comment on the pricing strucutre. LotRO is the cheapest out there at only $9.99 per month.
And I am looking forward to Dragon Age...gotta go pick it up this weekend!

Fantastic game and trailer!
So many games use cinematic, its nice and refreshing to have a game that can pull off an in game trailer!
The voice is well done as well, not the best but still gave me the shivers!
To those who are saying that the servers need merging: There are 2 low pop servers (in the EU where i play, the highest being snowborne and a German server) with the rest being medium to high population. if you ask someone who is on the low pop server if they would like to merge they would say no, they joined the sever because it WAS low pop, some people prefer that.
The graphics: fantastic best in any successful mmo, and dx11 is coming soon!
Pvmp: some don't like or get it, but i spend most of my time there, when you get into it, it is VERY fun, iv had countless nights of raiding and epic clashes and 1v1's (i play on an rp server, laurelin, there are also some special pvmp events) it can be extremely fun.
SoM: is bringing one of the best things that i think can come to an mmo, skirmishes, they are going to add a new level to the game, replayability with it being fun, choose how you play and alot more fun stuff! + we are getting some more of middle- earth to explore!
over all, love it, worth i try to those who haven't + don't listen to those who have only experienced one mmo (WOW) and just bash any others!
See you in middle-earth.
