Wow...
...and here I was thinking I was very clearly stating that my issues with the game stem from my own personal misgivings, and simply don't suit me?

That's a *whole* lot of angry-hate there, Rocheklip.
You scare me.. :-o

I'm still enjoying it a great deal. I hope that some of the people jumping ship take the LFG spam with them.

The Aionsource forums reminds me of the wow forums a lot and unfortunately the leavers will still be posting their hatred and venom there.

I have renewed my sub as most people in my guild and I am enjoying the game.

I doubt Aion will see a big drop in subscription numbers, it's the most polished & fleshed out game to come out in a couple of years, and it also has an appeal to certain types of players that don't get much attention in the genre at the moment.

Some people are just MMO tourists, the same people who won't keep at anything too long, they have initial interest, are suckers for the hype, think it will change their life.... however, just don't have the attention span.

I also find that these people are terribly vocal about leaving a MMO and bad mouthing it for a while after too. MMO companies recognize this demographic and largely ignore their feedback, as they never stick at anything anyway, they made money off the box sale, so it's still profitable, they are now someone else's problem....

....and yes, before anyone asks, I'm one of those people :)

I'll give something a fair shake, but Aion was one of these games where nothing worked properly for me (I lost several levels for instance). I had several data related issues on my character and the GM's did nothing to help - didn't even tell me sorry your out of luck start over.

First impressions really are everything in the online game business - especially these days where you have several really big MMO's (eve, eq and wow) that are mostly bug free, and well developed (ie - plenty of fun things to do).

I've never seen an MMO fully recover from a crap launch post World of Warcraft, and its a shame because Aion did show potential as being a game that could ursurp WoW from its throne.

Any article with the sentence "Rewards will be getting a little boost too, in the form of increased drop rates in several areas and new rewards here and there to make the grind a bit more rewarding." sort of worries me.

Make the grind more rewarding? How about "No thanks, I prefer to play a game, not take a second job"

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who is just a bit annoyed by all the bots in every area I've been to so far but maybe I am. No one else has mentioned it so far. The other thing that kind of annoys me is the way mob kills are counted. I play a Templar and I can beat on a thing for 30% of its health then have a high dps class come along and burst dmg the crap out of it and it's his kill. How is that fair? I'm told that this is just NCsoft. I admit I never played any other NCsoft game other than Guild Wars. There definitely are a bunch of cool things about the game but the 2 things I mentioned don't seem to be the slightest issue to NCsoft and they're a huge issue for me. Maybe someone here can explain away my concerns. I'm still playing. Not sure how much longer. I do love that crafted items are generally better than dropped items and the game is beautiful. I hope it gets better.

Mob tagging needs to work this way for end game encounters it's doubtful they will ever change it. People who grab your kill are douches, people I play with would NOT do this, it is very rude.

Bots are going to be dealt with or so we are told on the official site, they don't want to leak details on how they plan to get rid of them but they are on it. We'll see what happens, and I sure do hope something is done soon and aggressively because if anything THIS will kill their reputation as it did with L2. They have patched the game on a regular basis so far so there's still hope. :)

Yeah, the bots are the only thing right now that could make me cancel my sub. I waited a while before subbing and only started recently. Loving the game, but the bots are getting to me.

I've got 2 months left if there isn't a marked improvement in the bot situation I'll be leaving. If there is an improvement they can count on me subbing for a good long time.

It's a good game, not a great game, and I'm enjoying it.

It may get better and it may get worse; I'll worry about that when it happens.

In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy the ride :)
