In last week's community address, Aion promised some changes on the way in the next update. Today they released some tentative notes for that update as a preview of things to come. Of course the patch is still in testing and things are open to change, but it's a look at where things are headed.
Thankfully, it looks like the issue of EXP is being addressed pretty extensively. There are new repeatable quests that focus on crafting, increased EXP for gathering and crafting, increased EXP rewards for many quests in both regions, and a slight reduction in EXP penalties when you're in a group. We're anxious to see how this plays out when the patch is implemented -- a decrease in the grind will undoubtedly be welcomed by the Aion community. Rewards will be getting a little boost too, in the form of increased drop rates in several areas and new rewards here and there to make the grind a bit more rewarding.
The patch notes also include the standard tweaks -- bug fixes, skill balances, and changes to items and NPCs. Check out the full notes for all the current details, and we'll keep an eye out for a release date.

Increased drop rates? Really? I thought the drop rates were quite good, prices will probably drop to the floor now... I hope it doesn't unbalance some things, crafting for example isn't exactly cheap if you want to do a chunk of it at a time.
Better XP is fine, getting levels faster in gathering is surely welcome, especially aether gathering.. ;)

I just don't get you Mr. Gutts. It just seems that all I ever seen is negative comments about everything you play. Why do you even play MMO's if you just end up trashing every one that ever comes out? Do we really need to know that yet again you don't like the MMO you tried and you have cancelled your sub and there is no amount of improvement that will bring you back? Why not just quit and not tell us about it?
Feel free to give constructive criticism, but flaming a game just to tell us "RARGH MR. GUTTS ANGRY" just drags the conversation down.

Not true, I do like some mmo games. I liked CoH, EQ, PS, I had hopes for CO and even got the 6 month sub that is now rotting, L2, Eve and a couple I can't remember of hand.
What I can't tolerate is people accepting this trash companies are feeding us as the standard/norm. These companies have been in the business of releasing MMO's in the past, I have 0 tolerance for simple crap not working correctly (like forums or spam controls or the ability to address major issues with the core fundamentals of the Cry engine crashing because it can't handle 2 gigs of memory use.
They are a business and should have their ducks in a row and ready go on day 1, not 4 or 6 weeks later. For people to let companies do this to them and their hard earned money is totally nuts.
What I also can't stand is for a review site to openly state they love the game blah blah blah and then defend it (fanboi's) and then sit back to not publish any articles on what is and has gone wrong. The reason? They are totally blind by the fanboism and have no objective opinion what so ever.

Yeah I had heard he was really awesome, always right, but terribly elusive!
I'm delighted work is attracting such huge renown!
Aion is great, got a bit burned out right now and back to EQ2. Currently on my hate list are AoC (again after being conned into playing again to witness improvements.....) and Star wars galaxies for deleting my characters.... bastards...

Hey, I gave Aion the what for in my opinion column... but no one noticed. :( (Or, if they did notice, all I heard was that I was a complete idiot who didn't know an MMO from the back of her hand. Granted some people did agree with me though. ^_^)
Also, for the record, I work here and I'm totally not an Aion fanboi. :D

Most of these changes are welcome, more specifically the drop rates on Instance Boss loot. I know people who've done instances upwards of 120 times with no luck on getting a weapon to drop. This was inherently frustrating since I've even done it 20-30 times with no luck, either. I'd have to say that this MMO was extremely punishing to the Koreans and Chinese. Makes me wonder how they cope with it as it is.

I let my sub expire today also :S
Just not my cup of tea atm.. I seem to spend too much time waiting for combat skills to cooldown, gathering is just *way* too awful (read: boring, and sucks the pace out of the experience) for my liking, crafting is similar, flying was a letdown for me, and the >>wish there was another word for 'grind'

Especially given that Torchlight and Borderlands have now come out, Aion just can't keep my interest.
I don't 'hate' on Aion, it's just not what I expected, foolishly or otherwise.
Very pretty, love the animation work, and these patch notes seem good to me, but I've had to say farewell.
I guess I'm just 'Western Trash' that expects something different. ;p

Go play Fallen Earth and QQ more! ... I mean moar.
What? Not good? OK: Go play Hello Kitty Online and QQQQ moar!
Actually, I'm really enjoying both Aion and Fallen Earth. Never tried Hello Kitty though.

I actually went back to WoW ;). Seriously - its more fun.
For anyone at NCSoft who happens to read this - the reason I'll never resub is no-one ever replied to any of my gm tickets for a rather serious problem with my character. Yeah support does matter ;).

I am loving AION. I am looking forward to all the 1 months jumpers to leave so that we may play without all the crap spam from you guys at how awful the game is. Why the hell did most of you buy it just to slam it? You all expect a brand new game to have all the content of a game that has been out for over 6 years.
As for the grind, I felt getting mats and gold in WoW just to raid a few times a week more a grind then anything in AION.
I welcome all the new patches and content they will bring us!!! Keep it coming NCSoft.
Flying being a let down? Are you serious? The flying is so smooth and works flawless. Crafting? WoW had crafting from hell. Lets grind mats for hours on end to craft and maybe make 1 or 2 points.
Before you keep bitching about grinding. What do you do for gear or tokens in WoW? Grind the fuck out of the same Heroics over and over and over.
So sick of hearing about the grind in AION. Been playing 1 month and I am level 35, yea what a hard grind...
