Hahaha laughing quite hard at some of this.

Seriously, saved peoples lives because they are a WoW PvPer, pluuurreesseee!! What if he was a warlock, would more people die?

Google only want Runescape players hahahaha?

I don't know about other employers, but if a candidate came to me saying he/she was part of a large guild and had people management skills, I'd be far more concerned about web browsing, goofing off and tiredness from late nights than someone who did volunteer work or read books or did karate or liked gardening, just as some examples.

Also I'm finding it quite amusing that everyone is learning leadership, everyone seems to think they are a good leader. I got news for most folks. when you play an MMO, EVERYONE thinks they are the leader, it's the first person perspective, you are in control!!!!

Leadership in MMO's is just the person who can be bothered to spam the looking for group channel, or has done the dungeon before, most folks just go along. However at the end, people just drop group and go to the next, sometimes bitter arguments about loot...

So while most people will just about tolerate overbearing teenagers barking orders at them on ventrilo, the fact is, it's just a means to an end. Give them their moment of glory, but that's not leadership, that's just other people not being lazy.

There are three fundamental truths from discussion.

You want to learn math, pick up a math book
You want to get a job, get relevant training/qualifications
You want to get laid, don't play mmo's

You think you can shortcut any of these by playing MMO's, you are kidding yourself, unless your job is playing MMO's for a living, employers are not interested at all.

You, sir, are what non-manager-types call "an asshole" (excuse my french). Some people get laid playing MMO's. Plenty of GIRLS play MMOs. You, sir, are an idiot. I bet you would refuse to hire someone based on what their hobbies were.

Also, nobody is saying "play mmo's to develop skills" the post was asking, 'have you found any skills have happened to develop after having played MMO's" People play for fun. It was a question. Pay attention.

I strongly dislike people like you. *sigh* Your employee's probable hate you, and suck up to you at the same time.

Great feedback!

However, if I could just point out, discussion is encouraged at massively, personal attacks are not really tolerated, then I think we'll all be singing from the same song sheet.

Thanks! You got the job :) !!!

The Leadership that people imply to in an MMO is that of a GM or Officer in a highly successful guild. Not so much of that you're talking about.

I think I've learned diplomacy, and even more I've learned how diplomacy doesn't work all the time. We can't always work things out. Sometimes people can't be reasoned with.

Also, I've learned more vividly how quick people are to talk shit, or complain, without actually talking to the person involved, or dealing with the problem head-on. People would rather ostracize an individual, than talk about the issue.

So..I guess I've learned social realities...but they're all pretty depressing. O-o.

Also, as a healer, I've learned to 'be a helper'. To trust other people's skills, and just go along for the ride. That you can, or should be able to, be an essential part of the team, one they couldn't run without, one that requires you to be skilled, and just follow the leader.

It's also made me more sensitive to bad leaders though, lol. And, after playing a healer for so long I kind of have an instinct to follow - which isn't always a good thing.
