What's makes beating raids in Ruins of Kunark and The Shadow Odyssey even better? Achievements, of course. That's why SOE is adding brand new achievements to several heroic zones and raids to those two expansions. Players will be challenged by several new goals, such as Flawless Victory, which requires finishing an encounter without losing a single party member. Other achievements involve winning a raid encounter with three or more people less than the maximum and clearing a raid or heroic zone within a set time limit.
Obviously, these challenging new achievements wouldn't be worthwhile without a reward. The form of said reward comes as three new titles: the Dragonslayer, the Urgent and the Flawless. We'd point out which titles go with which rewards, but we're pretty sure you've got it figured out. In our opinion, the Dragonslayer title is probably the coolest sounding, what with the dragon murdering and all that. Being "Urgent" sounds kind of cool but in a confusing way, like when your friends tell you they blew up a car, until they reveal it was, in fact, your car.

I think EQ2 is going to make a bit of a resurgence in the new year, a lot of things seem to be coming together with the game and there is a rumor of a beastmaster class, as well as more old zones!
While achievements are lifted from other IP's, they are still fun, but I guess EQ can afford to take inspiration from others as they have had this for quite some time.

"Rumor of a beastmaster class"? Heh. People have been asking for EQ1 Beastlords to be added to EQ2 since beta, and SOE's always said it will never happen. In fact, they even made it so the forums automatically converted the world "Beastlord" to something else ("Rick Astley" was one for a while, if I remember correctly) because people brought it up so often and the mods were sick of it.
I loved my Beastlord in EQ1, it was my main and I've never played a class with the same interaction between master and pet in any MMO since, but I am pretty sure that this rumor for EQ2 is nothing more than 5 years worth of wishful thinking.

When I see screen shots of "New" features blatantly copied from other mmo's like wow (and I mean blatant, groups, ui and all) it doesn't make me want to play them, just reminds me why I play wow.

ok buddy, lets not forget where wow stole there achievement system, Xbox Live, so go f!@k ya self, fanboi.
fact is, achievements can be a very fun addition to a game, if you really want to go all out and on a bitchfest about copying refer to Alganon.

He's not saying WoW was the first to come up with the achievement system, no need to swear at him. Seems the art of discussion is somewhat lost for you, if you call someone a fanboy after one comment.
Honestly, I do like how the groupings / general UI of the window is almost exactly the same as WoW's - but that's how MMOs work - a successful design is imitated by competitors.
still, I got a lol out of the picture.

Real simple.
1) This addition is not original
2) It wasn't original in the game this was almost certainly copied off, either
3) Achievements are fun and everyone should have them, so who cares?
Me, I'd like to see someone copy the collections from EQ2!

It's simple really. While WoW did copy systems from other games, they did managed to bring them together and improve on them in a number of ways to make them very successful.
Older MMO's tried to make a wheel, it came out like an octagon. WoW took that wheel and refined it.
Why not use these systems in other games? If WoW can get away with copying the original, why can't other games use a version of WoW's system?
Who cares if "Game-X had this first", or "Game-Y had this first"; if we enjoy our games, what difference does it make where things come from?

WoW achievement system was added but apart of some mount, pet or crappy title there are no rewards that make you go to all the trouble.... But it was fun hey lets do OS with all drakes up ;)
Same goes for Everquest, Achievements are just there to make you do stuff that normally you will not even bother with... And make you feel good about it ;)

Oh please everyone has achievements big deal. Please no one even dare imply Blizzard does anything original and no one should copy from them.. This is what WoW does; copy from everyone else and put a fun spin on it and people love it, and why the heck not? If it's fun then it's cool, these are games after all.
I've heard people say they were really happy about this Eq2 update, so good job! Also would all future mmos please Eq2's housing system? Thank you! ;P lol..

I was mainly pointing out how similar the ui was to how wow was doing it, not saying blizzard invented the wheel. Way to make a first time poster feel welcome.

As usual, MMOs copy each other, but EQ2 was the first introducing a lot of new things and ideas, launching before WOW.
EQ2 housing is the best, heh, WOW: copy that if you dare!
