I was in Gnomeregan for the first time and happily discovered a place where I could use my Gnomish Universal Remote, which allowed me to "mind control" a machine. This went well for a few fights, and when the 60 seconds of control wore off, my group was able to kill the machine without problem. (After the control wore off, the target would aggro on me, and I was a mage.) But then we had a fight near a ledge and I had the bright idea of killing the machine by making it walk off the ledge and crashing below. Of course, the machine didn't die. The rest of my group didn't see this happen, and while they were healing up, I looked down and watched the machine running away from the bottom of the ledge, with a bunch of mobs following it, and I knew it was headed for a ramp or stair. I of course didn't say anything. My group was getting ready to continue when about 20-30 critters came hopping and bopping from around the other side of the ledge and wiped us.

haha I see more than a couple FFXI above. That warms my heart a bit.

I am thinking.. seeing a RAM in Konschtat Highlands with a name and thinking Rampaging Ram.

Me being a 40ish BLM at the time send a msg to LS
"Found It" Steelfleece Baldarich as I hit it.

Why do Tarutaru die so indignantly with our little tushies so high in the air!! ??

I remember in EVE online I was jumping around in empire picking up mods to fit a new ship. I was docking to grab a couple mods at a station when I noticed a carrier outside. I loaded them into the cargo hold and un-docked, all the while thinking "I didn't think capital ships could even get into empire space". As I moved away from the station taking a closer look at the ship, a rapid lock and warp scramble from a nearby battleship awoke me to the fact I wasn't in Empire at all. I'd jumped into low-sec and never even noticed. My new clone knows better now.

In FFXI, I had just leveled and was really excited about wearing a new pair of pants for my thief. While camping a rare spawn up in sky, I grabbed the mob and began to kite it as the rest of my group ran over to kill it (the mob spawns at one of two points and the group was divided evenly between the two). Sadly, I wasn't told that the mob runs faster then normal mobs and I died before my whole group got to me. I deleveled and since the pants I were wearing were a level higher, I died and my pants were taken off.

My whole linkshell claimed the mob and saw me on the ground in front of it wearing no pants. . .my butt up in the sky.

In FFXI, on my red mage, using convert to swap my current HP and MP values, and immediately getting owned by several undead mobs, which aggro to low HP.

Casting Dia (dot) on a darter while fighting Fafnir (huge dragon alliance boss). Thankfully didn't wipe, but it did link 2 or 3 other darters. --;

On my warrior, using 2 hour ability + warrior's charge + berserk + aggressor + warcry, and missing my weaponskill. Twice in two hours. My linkshell never let me forget it.

In Aion, after being snared by a ranger in the abyss, jumping off a ledge thinking I can fly away. "You cannot fly as your run speed is too slow." Simultaneously forgetting I have status healing potions and falling to my death.

Training half the mobs in the fire temple only to get owned at the entrance while they beat on me and I struggled to open the door to leave. I learned that mobs don't tether in instances that day.

FFXI running straight into Faust and wiping our group who wasn't ready. Calling for help on Hakutaku and wiping the alliance. Never heard the end of that. I was "the guy who CFH'd Hakutaku".

I have many of these, but I shall share only a few.

I have done a good many wrong char, wrong button.

I watched my friend drown in the thunder buff pool. Then refused to res her.

we were doing a kara party when cap was 70 and it was a really easy run. A mage decided to impress us all and jump into the library, but forgot to check to see if slow fall or blink was up (both were on cd). he fell to his death, I made him run back.

In Runes of Magic I a good many times would run into mobs not knowing one was a random spawn boss.

so many more

"Rocks fall, Calarius dies."

Gruul's Lair. We're getting ready to start. Everyone is inside. We're buffing, Raid Lemur (yes, that is spelled right) is going over details...

Our kamikaze mage starts moving, and face-pulls Gruul...right into me. I take a serious pounding while the tanks take control of the event.

Hurt badly, but still standing, I move into position and start to heal myself, just as Gruul pulls a cave-in...centered on me. I just stare at the screen, go "oh s***", and die. Yet, somehow, the raid manages to get Gruul down, despite the "rocky" start.

My total DPS...0.

Easiest 3 badges I ever made.

My most embarrassing death would of been back when I was still a newb at CoH. It was the Winter Event, and as part of the event there's presents to open all over the city. The problem is that while a team was forming to run a task force, I found a present almost insanely close to the contact and I figured 'Why not?' and opened it. The present turned out to be a trio of +5 enemies who KOed my squishy blaster before I had a chance to even realize what was going on. Worse, the team was joking about how they were only +5's and I should of been able to take them on alone.

I'm not really surprised by all the embarrassing FFXI deaths. Fortunately, I can only remember ones I did talk about (including my first level-down, in Sarutabaruta). In LotRO, I do feel particularly stupid about some of my misadventure deaths in Moria (wait, there weren't stairs at the end of that ledge?). :-|

Funniest death I saw wasn't mine (though they have been many). When choppers/hogs 1st appeared in WoW, I saw a guy giving a friend a ride in the side car, near the Great Forge in IF. After a bit of hooning around he popped a wheelie straight into the magma.

Come to think of it I did a similar thing in Burning Steppes recently - thought my Shaman might be able to run on lava. They can't though :(

Lol, I remember those guys well! Super Leet's I believe they were called? Running from them while hunting mobs, and praying you hit the loading barrier before you died was a lark.

Holding down the vent button where it is indiscreetly placed next to the auto-run button, leaning back into the chair only to have the metal holding the chair up snap and simultaneously hitting the auto-run button trying to grasp for something to hold onto.

My back aches every time the guild brings it up.

I know a few mages that have thrown themselves off cliffs only to find out very quickly that they had no more light feathers. Back before glyphs & all that :)
