Just when you thought you'd seen enough Star Trek Online space combat videos to keep you satisfied for a day or two, Cryptic Studios whips out a Klingon focused trailer that's sure to get your Pepto Bismol colored blood beating through those hardened, warrior-like veins.
That's right, Klingons are in this game! We almost forgot with all that Federation love coming from Cryptic ever since the game was announced. But that's okay, because Klingon's are accustomed to waiting in secrecy for the right moment to strike. This is only the first small disruptor blast in what's sure to be a volley of ferocious strikes far greater than any puny Federation ship could handle.
See the glory of the Klingon Empire after the break.

great picture of Jim from Taxi.
I hope this game allows for some RP. Otherwise playing a Klingon will be as about as exciting as playing an Orc in WoW.

Grr. Makes me want to try it. And spend more money. *sigh* why did I decide to become a gamer? I forget.
I could be a klingon, and circle federation ships pretentiously quoting shakespeare. Would be fun.
But more than that it makes me want to watch Star Trek.
Specifically...Deep Space Nine. It always felt like that show was much more about the characters, which I liked. Plus the Defiant is my favorite ship.

Yeah but isn't it a sort of Monster play? In that You will always start out as Federation - but at some point you're able to Also have a klingon ship and play them instead - for PvP? and the majority of the game is for the Federation - i.e. missions and what not?

No its not monster-play its just that they only created a federation tutorial they said the Klingons will be unlocked when you get the game proper for the Federation.

The only line out of the whole thing that caught my attention was the sneer about the Federation's explorers not being conquerors ... is that a game mechanic reference? Will the Klingon equivalent of exploration missions involve enslaving a planet's population? It'd be nice to get to check off another item on my e-meter list.

They really need to work on the music. When I see Klingon Warbirds, I need to hear the Jerry Goldsmith score that I always associate with Star Trek.
Other than that, looks sweet.

"Klingons make their first appearance in STO"
Bulls--t... they were seen already in the first Cryptic STO trailer over a year ago. Saw the video a few days ago also, and i'm not overly impressed by the JJEnterprise appearing in the PRIME timeline, over 100 years past it's prime.

That's not the JJEnterprise. the Constitution class has been resurrected for this game but not the JJ version. That version is part of an alternate time-line that has no effect what-so-ever on the mainstream time-line. The design in the video has some similarities in the fuselage section but not so much in the nacelles and the saucer section. It is definitely a Constitution, though.
Sorry for the geek-out but, well, yeah...

Really don't care how it's justified: The Constitution Class had it's time (from 2240s -- 2290s). Let the ship rest in peace, and come up with some new designs, instead of rehashing "fanboyish" classes. Yes, the ship in the trailer isn't identical to the JJEnterprise, but it shares more similarities with the JJ version, then the TMP version. A JJ/TMPEnterprise if you will.

I have to agree somewhat with Darkthunder. That the Constitution class in the video looks more like the JJEnterprise than the TMP Enterprise. At least the bridge looked better than the JJEnterpise version.
I don't care that they have the class in the game but it is weird to have such an old ship design the game. TNG was about 70 years in the future from the original series and the game is what another 70 years from TNG era so that's 140 years.
